Metallic Minerals – Exploration Results From The Fox Target At Keno East, Building Towards A Maiden Resource Estimate This Year
Scott Petsel, President of Metallic Minerals (TSX.V:MMG – OTCQB:MMNGF), joins us to review the recent bulk tonnage drill results from the Fox Target at the Keno Hill silver district of Canada’s Yukon Territory.
We start off reviewing some of the first 8 drill holes with bulk tonnage results reported this week from the 2022 exploration program at East Keno. This program was focused on drilling of the Greater Fox area targets (Fox, UKHM and Zone 2), first discovered by the Company in 2020. Drill intercepts at the Fox target in 2022 averaged 136 m of sheeted vein mineralization (including up to 177 m wide); a significant broadening of the identified mineralized zones encountered in 2020 and 2021 drilling at Fox. At the Fox target, hole FOX22-03, returned sheeted vein zones of 144.5 m @ 41.4 g/t silver equivalent (Ag Eq), including 27.66 m at 105.8 g/t Ag Eq. There are still 2,000 more meters and 15 more drill holes to release from last year’s drill program, and those will all be incorporated along with all the prior years drilling at the Homestake, Formo, Caribou, and Greater Fox Targets into a Maiden Resource Estimate later this year.
Next we had Scott outline some of the nuances and differences being discovered in this more wide-intercept bulk-tonnage style mineralization in Keno East, verus the higher-grade narrow dipping veins found in Keno West, more akin to what their neighbors at Hecla Mining have in their resources and will be mining again in the latter part of 2023. Scott points out that the high-grade portion at depth in Keno West is more ideal for underground mining methods, and that even Keno East may be amenable to a combination or underground and open pit mining.
We wrap up by getting Scott’s thoughts on the big picture exploration strategy in 2023 at both Keno Hill, and down at the copper and precious metals focused La Plata Project in Colorado, where both projects will have meaningful work done to expand known resources. Additionally, there will be newsflow coming out in the next few months from the Company’s alluvial gold royalties in the Klondike Gold District for investors to watch for.
