October 29, 2021

Sean Brodrick, Analyst at Weiss Ratings and Editor of Wealth Wave, joins us to discuss the energy sector.  We start off with where the markets are in regards to oil and nat gas, and what action Sean is taking in his portfolio. Next we transition over to the renewable energy space with thoughts on different ETFs and companies in solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.  We wrap up with some thoughts on nuclear power and the uranium miners to round off the discussion.

Gas Up for the Next Energy Rally
    .
    by Sean Brodrick | October 21, 2021
    .
“Natural gas has pulled back sharply, down about 20% from a seven-year high it hit on Oct. 5.”
    .
“But why did natural gas go so high in the first place?”

Soak Up the Sun With Solar

      .
“That’s a real shift in the tide, since investors had reasons to sour on solar —including Congress’ infrastructure bill delays and supply chain bottlenecks that saw critical components stuck in ports. Add in soaring commodity costs … and you can see why investors looked elsewhere.”
      .
      “But that’s changing.”

Put Some Wind in Your Investment Sails

“The U.S. offshore wind sector could finally be taking off. Last Wednesday, the Biden administration announced a plan to build seven mega wind farms in the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Maine, as well as off the coasts of the Carolinas, California, Oregon and the Mid-Atlantic states.”
        .
“With further advancements in technology, global wind power should continue to expand by leaps and bounds.”

“Hydropower is expected to remain the world’s largest source of renewable power through 2024, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA). If you’ve ever stood atop Hoover Dam, you know how mind-blowing hydroelectric power plants can be… ”

The End Of A Remarkable Rally In Energy Prices
    .
    By Michael Kern – Oct 29, 2021
    .
“Oil prices are on course to post their first weekly loss in two months, with both coal and natural gas prices falling as well. Whether this marks the end of the recent crazed rally in energy prices remains to be seen, but there are certainly more bearish factors on the horizon.”
    .
“The recent remarkable energy rally calmed down this week, with gas, coal, and oil prices all posting a weekly loss. In the case of crude, it was the first weekly decline in two months. Whilst oil companies were buoyed by an overwhelmingly positive string of Q3 results (most notably Chevron reporting its highest quarterly profit in 8 years), the case for $85+crude prices has weakened over this week. Iranian talks are back on the geopolitical agenda in November, crude inventories in the US increased once again, and geopolitical uncertainty threatens Bosnia, Libya, and Sudan.”
