I have to point out that everyone with whom I have talked within this venue has said exactly the same thing only not quite as dramatically. Over two weeks ago, when China was barely reporting statistics, one of the first reports that came out of Wuhan, was that over 70 HOSPITAL WORKERS HAD DIED. This was at a point when less than a 1,000 had died world wide.
If you are telling me that in the early days these hospital workers did not get the best treatment available…..I think you’re wrong.
The fact that neither of your professionals have brought up the age dependence, TELLS ME THEY ARE JUST PLAIN IGNORANT about the specifics of the virus.
I Take the kill rate as a rate at which those that get symptoms actually die, not as a percentage of the population.
I feel absolutely no panic about the virus, but I am very concerned that I have the most accurate information possible.
If you are going to wait until you hear that the corona virus is on your block, it is my believe you are just too late. To the best of my knowledge the incubation period is up to 27 days, although the average is 6-9 days AND I DON’T RULE OUT DOUBLE INFECTION causing the 27 day apparent day incubation (I.e. a reinfection).
The WHO currently has identified two distinct strains “S” and “L”.
I believe their are currently 4 mutated strains, of which the predominant strain in Italy is extremely concerning.
Not only is it more virulent, it appears to be slighlt more lethal.

Hi again Larry, I don’t find anything ignorant about what Dr. Frieda; Dr. Carole; and Jim had to say about “using common sense and keeping a cool head”. They also stressed the fact that we currently have to accurate ideas about the actual numbers of cases. I, personally, guarantee that number will become much larger and I am simply thinking clearly and using common sense as you seem to be.

Suppose the transmission of the virus (the probability of getting the virus is proportional to the ACE2 receptor cells you have.
Obviously transmission is dependent on the giver of the virus, how many there are and how they give it. But let’s look at the receiver’s end.
Do eifferent people have different quantities of ACE2 cells ?
Yes smoker have roughly twice as many in their lungs as non-smokers.
Men have roughly twice as many as women.
Asians ave about 3 times as many as Caucasians.
So, if fou’re a smoking, male Asian, tough luck.

LOOK AT THE NUMBERS:
An INCREASE in Deaths by 133 to 366 means that 24 hours ago the death toll was 233.
133/233 is a 57% increase in deaths overnight.
When you have a doubling in deaths from 1 person dying going from 1 dead to 2 dead that’s a 100% increase, but not very statistically meaningful.
When you have a 57& increase in deaths when you have 133 dead, that IS VERY STATISTICALLY SIGNIFICANT.
It MEANS THE VIRUS IS HORRENDOUSLY DANGEROUS.
Or, what I hope and pray is true….Italians got their numbers wrong.
E.g. there were deaths that happened earlier that were reported at the right time.

Thanks for informing me Mosta has a Lidl’s. That’s worth knowing, even though Mosta is in the center of the Island. The Maltese obvious prefer low-priced German toilet paper.
Note that report is 13 days old…..I imagine the store is stripped bare by now.
Yeah, but the Aussie toilet paper fight in the grocery store was just 2 days ago, and some grocery stores around me ran out of TP over the weekend.
Even my lady came home last week with all these extra toilet paper packages, and said, “I know you think I’m crazy, but everyone else was buying it out, so I thought it was a good idea to get some extra just in case places are out for while.” I just shook my head and smiled at her and said, “Thanks sweetie,” if the world comes to an end, at least we’ll be able to wipe our hind ends in comfort.
If everyone who had a severe case of Coronavirus or resultant complications were treated in a specialist ICU bed then I’m sure the mortality rate would be low, however no country has enough ICU beds or medical staff to do that so the mortality rate will be much higher. That’s the big issue with this virus. South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong are showing how this should be dealt with, the US and Europe through a mixture of hubris and stupidity are way behind the curve and I think it’s frankly shocking and we will all pay the price.
