A Comprehensive Market Wrap – US Markets, the VIX, Gold, and Bonds
Chris Temple wraps up today for us with his thoughts on the big moves in US stocks, gold, bonds, and the VIX. One aspect of today to note is the fact that selling or buying did not pick up during the day. Most markets that we watch started the day either way up or way down and stayed in a relatively tight range throughout the day.
As Chris notes throughout the interview let’s see what the headlines bring for the rest of the week.

In your opinion, is this a bio weapon that got lose?
Should be LOOSE…DANG iPAD!
But maybe lose ain’t far off…a bio weapon fail..
Occam’s Razor – yes.
There are just too factors involved – how it spreads, infects and kills and the epicentre of the outbreak – that commonsense says this is an escaped viral weapon.
And Mash Shadlock…and others….on Corona…on Macrovoices…so pop open a Corona and have a listen.
I don’t think people know what’s coming. Sure you can reduce the number of new cases if you keep everybody in lock-down, but what then? It just slows it down it doesn’t stop it. Let’s hope some warmer weather puts it on hold so we’ve got a bit more time to find some better treatments.

Most of China’s air is so poluted that it smells like dead bodies burning anyway. By the way, why isn’t Bernie pointing his long bony finger at them—
Why don’t we tax China’s billionaires?
Looks as though the short term traders and power players might have suuccessfully fleeced their fellow players with the current move in gold. Accelerated close last week of $1642 followed by a panicked bump upto $1689 yesterday and then the subsequent retracement below Fridays close is classic weekend fear mongering. I thought this to be the case when I saw the pop price in gold yesterday but one can never be too sure in todays world. I actually thought we would see a brief crack of $1700 but not to be. Short term sentiment is always fraught with danger. In the longer term, no damage done to golds outlook… at this stage!

John Campbell is a British ICU – Intensive Care Unit doc – who also teaches docs and nurses around the world. He has lots and lots of medical contacts. He is a man who chooses his words carefully but, in his daily videos on coronavirus, he implied about a week ago that the world was at the start of a pandemic.
He has contacts in Iran and they tell him that things are very bad there. Worth watching his 2 or 3 daily videos on what is happening.

I keep meaning to watch that film ‘Contagion’ but I think it would just depress me. Would people go into work tomorrow if they knew what was coming?
