Will Trump’s Tariff Mania Continue
Jeff Diest, President of the Mises Institute discusses the ongoing tariff mania thanks to Trump. We look at Trump’s mentality dating back to his past business dealings and what we can expect down the road. The whole trade war topic is much bigger than the day to day back and forth that we hear.

Jeff Diest is a gentleman in all ways evident. He can call trump an idiot without using the words. trump could learn a lot from this man but he’s too stuck in his backward ways. Enough said. Thanks Cory for the interview. JMO
I believe Diest totally misunderstands Trump.
I lived in Westchester county for a few years and Trump has “street-smarts” typical of some successful New Yorkers. He takes excessive risks at times, but they are calculated risks.
I did not vote for Trump and had views similar to Diest for quite a while, but have raised my valuation of Trump, as I have watched him more closely. I believe many underestimate his abilities.
Trump has laid it on the table: REAL FREE TRADE or TARIFFS. Surely, Diest knows this.
Jeff has been consistently wrong regarding Trump. He certainly can’t understand the long game of Trump. It’s economic common sense, in a world where common sense isn’t common anymore. Some call it 4D chess, but it’s all about fundamental economics and national sovereignty.
There is no evidence that Deist has been wrong about Trump in any significant way but there IS evidence that Trump does not have a handle on “fundamental economics.”
No evidence? Just listen to all of Jeffs comments. Wrong every time.
No evidence? Trump has billions of performing assets.
Deregulation, cut taxes, ballancing trade deficits, yup, nada.
You have no understanding either, only delusions. Making billions does not require that you understand economics. It doesn’t necessarily even require that you understand markets.
As for your deregulation, tax cuts, etc, you’re making a mountain out of one tiny molehill.
How about the most pernicious tax of all — inflation? You think Trump has a problem with the (Marxist) central bank? If so, you’re even more delusional than I thought.
You’ll see the fed get nationalized and the treasury take over monetary policy. Watch and see. Donald tells the fed how the cows eat cabbage. He’s not like the last gaggle of traitors.
Oh geez, I agree with Matthew on this. You are off the rails if you think Trump will nationalize the FED, lol. He’s far more likely to nationalize Newmont (at fire sale prices too!). Jamie will be cheerleading the whole way! Now that is the art of the deal!
Re: “You’ll see the fed get nationalized and the treasury take over monetary policy.”
Like I said, you have no understanding yourself. Nationalizing the Fed and handing control over monetary policy to the Treasury would fix precisely nothing.
If Trump were for real, he’d be arguing against the existence of a central bank and he’d keep the gov out of the money manipulation business.
And the NYSE is going to new highs, right? Heh, ..right)
The derivative bubble is drifting to the pin.
If you think the owners of the fed like Donald Trump, you can’t follow the bouncing ball worth a sh t.
And you, Chartster, have an infantile view of reality if you think the owners of the Fed have any problem with Trump at all.
Matthew,
You’re going to start hearing the term “reflation” thrown around soon. What reflation means is a change of monetary policy. That means no debt instruments. Overinflated assets go to real value (derivative bubble). Real assets have real value base on supply and demand.
It won’t be deflation or inflation at all. The debt based monetary cycle is at its end. You of all people should be happy about that.
I really don’t need to debate this fact. You’ll see.
Oy vey
“Reflation is the act of stimulating the economy by increasing the money supply or by reducing taxes, seeking to bring the economy (specifically price level) back up to the long-term trend, following a dip in the business cycle.”
There is nothing sound about reflation and no real conservative would be for it. Such manipulations amount to centralized control; authoritarianism (the domain of the left).
you don’t think it stretches credulity for a person “lacking a handle on fundamental economics” to become a billionaire?
I understand your opinion; but it does not fit known facts: Trump is a billionaire, ergo he must have some grasp on economics.
Big mistake on your part. Countless businessman don’t know a thing about economics. They about business — their business, and marketing. You certainly don’t need to know who Mises was or what’s wrong with the Keynesian school to do well in real estate. Then there’s cronyism. You need to know even less about economics if you have the right friends.
Btw, traders, and many other market operators, don’t need to know squat about economics, and most don’t.
Daraa Depot Uncovered: Massive Weapons and Ammo Cache Left Behind Prove West Funded Terror
Ameicans supporting isis,
Trump dropping more bombs than Clinton and Obama, its gonna take a little bit of evidence for me to believe Trump is not a puppet of Israel and or the deep state.
BS, b, It proves only that US weapons were used by the rebels.
It PROVES NOTHING REGARDING FUNDING.
Since the U.S. is one of the biggest arms sellers, is it surprising U.S. made arms are found all over the world?
E.g. If Iran funded the purchase of weapons, where do tou think Iran might buy weapons?
(NOTE: I am not saying Iran funded anything, just what if.)
b, oops…..it took only a couple of minutes to show problems with your allegation….
Syrian Army Reportedly Seizes French-Made Anti-Tank Missile Systems in Daraa
Do you want to explain why the US would provide French-made weapons?
cfs, i didnt and nobody else did, say that americans supplied french made weapons.
The west is supplying these scumbags, the americans are merely the leaders of it.
Heck, even canada is supplying arms to Saudi.
Same thing, isis.
Well, you could say wahabi is its own sickness I suppose.
If you followed what happens in Syria for awhile, you would find that all the names of the “rebels”, isis, al nusra, al sham or bingo bongo etc etc are inter changeable.
They’re all the same guys, and we supply them all depending on which day of the week it is, oops, depending on what deal is made with whom.
And innocent ol Israel? Just following the standard Yinon plan.
B, every nation is run by puppet masters.
no kidding.
CFS:
You sound like a broken record. You might learn something if you took the ear plugs out and dropped the blinders.
The US and Israel clearly not only supported ISIS and anyone willing to take up arms against the legal and democratically elected government of Syria, they funded them. Even the EU has woken to the fact that rather than being an anti ISIS force, the US has literally invaded Syria illegally.
Dose this sound familiar? It came from a document written 22 years ago.
“Israel can shape its strategic environment, in cooperation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Syria.”
Donald Trump is owned and operated by Sheldon Adelson on behalf of the monsters running Israel.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Clean_Break:_A_New_Strategy_for_Securing_the_Realm
It’s one of those minor legal details but both Russia and Iran are in Syria at the invitation of Assad and they defeated ISIS after the US spent years doing little more than masturbating.
I was a combat pilot. I could have ended those miles long convoys of tanker trucks driving into Turkey with a couple of flights loaded with 20 Mike Mike.
I fully recognize individuals from many countries supported ISIS.
I have yet to see evidence that Trump supported ISIS.
I don’t doubt Obama (whom I consider a traitor to the US) supported ISIS.
I treated the Presidents, however, and leaders of all countries as individuals, with different policies and goals.
Yes it was Obama, McCain, and Hillary who created ISIS to overthrow Assad. It was Obama who refused to bomb the ISIS convoys.
Where is your evidence Trump is dropping bombs?
Where is your evidence it is more bombs than Clinton or Obama?
There is extensive evidence that Trump and Putin spoke to each other about Syria and Trump did not interfere with Russian aid to Syria in fighting ISIS.

Jun 21, 2018 – Trump’s Military Drops a Bomb Every 12 Minutes, and No One Is …. Under Trump, five bombs are dropped per hour—every hour of every day.
Ya only need to look cfs, course ya gotta hear about it first before ya know what to look for.
Trump has interfered with the Russians fighting isis , remember the 59 tomahawks?
More times than that but thats the one that hit the news.
Sure, I remember the 59 tomahawks.
They were launched at an airfield from which Syrian planes were launched for an alleged chemical attack on Syrian civilians.
It was NOT to aid ISIS.
There was clear evidence Trump also spoke to Putin before and after the Tomahawks were fired.
I also said I did not believe the Syrians used chemical weapons and that it was more likely a stray Russian bomb accidently hit a storage facility.
I also remember it occurred early in Trump’s Presidency and he wanted to establish his bona fides as a hands-on-don’t mess with-me-President….for N. Korea’s eyes.
b, you should also understand I read a difference in meaning between
Trump “is” dropping bombs faster than…..
and
Trump “was” dropping bombs faster than…
You may not bother with precise language, but I try to.
cfs, who were those tomahawks helping if not isis?
But thats only 1 time, there have been multiple times the U.S. airforce hit syrian troops.
They always say its in self defense, especially around Al Tanf.
US soldiers killed ‘hundreds’ in battle with Syrian forces and Russian mercenaries, says American general
This has been going on for years cfs, Israel supports isis with air power as well.
Heck, the Israelis were running hospitals for wounded isis fighters.
Israel ‘giving secret aid to Syrian rebels’, report says

Check your damned URLs.
I click on them and get sent to irrelevant sites.
Bush: 70,000 bombs, 24/day
Obama: 100,000 bombs, 34/day
Trump’s FIRST YEAR: 44,000 bombs, 121/day
The large majority of the dead are collateral damage.
This one is linked by the above, and has more useful links. It would appear to me to be a solid fact.
Thx GH, thats the one I thought I had linked, guess I should do as cfs says, check the darn urls before I post em.
Rosenstein indicts Russians for election crimes.
CFS:
Listening to Rod Rosenstein testify in front of Congress in the past couple of weeks and seeing Comey talk and now Peter Strzok makes me realize just how corrupt and arrogant the DOJ and FBI have become.
They tried to derail Trump before the election and to start a coup after the election on the basis that the FBI and DOJ should determine who the president should be.
Their continuing arrogance is nothing short of remarkable. No mention is made of HC’s illegal use of a server and lies under oath. Huma Abadin hasn’t been charged. No one has in the server issue and it clearly violated all the laws regarding classified information.
I can only conclude they have knowledge they threaten to disclose that would start a revolution the next day. It’s probably the real story about who did 911.
http://halturnerradioshow.com/index.php/news/u-s-national-news/2841-omg-is-this-look-satanic-or-what
Mr. Moriarty, it worries me that statements from the DOJ/FBI contradict statements by Assange.
I have never found Assange, ever, to be proven to mis-state the truth.
Am I logically to conclude that US officials may not always be truthful?
The charges filed today are entirely political in nature in order to torpedo any progress between Trump and Putin. You do not have to believe Assange, I do but it’s meaningless. The emails taken from the DNC server were removed by a physical device, not via electronic transmission. Someone plugged a USB chip in and downloaded the data.
The DOJ, FBI and CIA have been lying through their teeth about everything both before and since the election.
I would only be shocked if someone testified that the US doesn’t do a lot more interfering in the elections of other nations. We invade countries that are no threat to us on behalf of a foreign power, we stage coups and finance the same terrorists we claim to be against. For certain it’s end of empire.
Mr. Moriarty,
I can’t prove it, but I agree with every point you made in the 1:35 p.m. paragraph is probable.
CFS, you can conclude that for sure. FDR, LBJ, Bill Clinton, Obama, and both Bushes were all pathological liars. Don’t believe anything the government tells you.
Anyone with an average number of brain cells should doubt the official story of 911.
(e.g. Building 7. Or the fact that NEVER in the history of steel frame buildings has one similarly collapsed due to fire.)
The true story, however, be now be impossible to verify.
If Rosenstein is correct in identifying 10 Russians of trying to corrupt the 2016 elections, my questions immediately are:
1. Was this authorized by Putin, or is it a rogue group within Russia.
2. Why would the Russians want Trump elected?
3. Did the indicted Russians, knowing how corrupt and criminal Hillary Clinton had behaved, perhaps want to aid the U. S. by trying to stop her winning the presidency?
CFS:
Rosenstein just announced the equivalent of the FBI discovering the sun rises in the east. And just as meaningful.
Rosenstein did not actually say much, I agree.
He certainly provided little evidence to back up allegations.
I hope the grand Jury contains intelligent people, who actually saw evidence.
CFS:
Grand Jurys are meaningless. It is said that a good prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich. Not a one of them will ever be tried. It’s a political staged event to torpedo the talks with Putin and Trump. The Deep State strikes once again.
THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — A Greek court agreed Friday to extradite a Russian cybercrime suspect to France, a decision the Russian government protested and which could further sour relations between the two countries after Greece expelled two Russian diplomats.
That was quick!

The court in the northern city of Thessaloniki ruled in favor of France’s request to take custody of Alexander Vinnik, a former bitcoin operator who was arrested in Greece last year on a U.S.-issued warrant. Vinnik, 38, also is wanted on criminal charges in the United States and Russia.
Is this joker for screwing the blue collar guy by shipping our jobs to China? oh that’s worked out well……
Jeff, Trump wants FREE TRADE. What he has exposed is NO ONE ELSE WANTS IT.
Introduced to the House Judiciary Committee by Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY) and co-sponsored by Peter King (R-NY), Ted Budd (R-NC) and Paul Gosar (R-AZ). H.R. 6054, the “Unmasking Antifa Act of 2018” states:
