A Look At The US Dollar and Long-Term Yields

Cory
April 3, 2018

Doc joins me today to comment on the USD and 10 year yield. For the USD we assess if a breakout to the upside is more likely than a breakdown below the 88 level. For yields Doc continues to think a move higher over the course of the year will happen.

Sorry about your Michigan team but Villanova dominated everyone they played. Just an unstoppable team this year. I’m from the Philly area so I was happy. Better luck next year.

Sam, thanks. The wolverines were overachievers this year. They were forced to win on defense since their 3 point shooting was usually abysmal along with their foul shooting. If they could have hit just what an average 3 point shooting club should and 75% of their foul shots, the results could have been different. They had open looks all night and hit only 3 of 23 three point tries—that’s why they had to depend on defense all year. But I’m happy for John Beilein and the kids since they’re great people and have their priorities in the right place. It’s great to listen to Beilein’s philosophy about coaching. I also believe Jay Wright is a good person as well as a good coach. They both do the right things as coaches and it feels good we still have people in this country with some integrity.

I agree. Football is my sport so my knowledge on Michigan basketball is limited but most people agree with what you said about Wright. He has built a good program here. Nice to see we have winners for a change in Philly. My son is at PSU so I’m hoping their basketball program continues on the right track also.

Michigan can’t shoot, except themselves in the foot.

They were very aggressive i close which is why they had to shoot 23 3-pointers. I lost count of how many they mmissed. ? 20 ?

Too bad about Michigan.I was hoping a Big 10 team would win. Maybe Michigan will go to the Rose Bowl next year. Indiana hasn’t been there since Harry Gonso was QB and Johnny Pont was the coach. I saw Michigan beat the Hoosiers at IU back in the early 70’s.

BB; I’ve been following ABBV ever since you mentioned that stock. It’s currently taking out the 200 day SMA which is not good and has a chance in the future to head for the 200 week SMA and challenge 70–we’ll see.

Thanks, Doc. I’m in no rush to buy ABBV as I already have some spun off from ABT.
How low do you think XOM or IMO could go?

          Apr 03, 2018 03:59 PM

XOM could challenge 65 and then I would have to look at it again. IMO could reach 22.50 and then I would look at it again.

Thanks. I think XOM would yield 5% @65. Hard to resist.

GLD:GDX ratio has been basing for the next leg up over the last 2 months, slowly working off overbought indicators. The daily chart looks tremendous.

I’ve been anticipating a plunge in the miners for a while now, and I have been surprised by how long this consolidation has lasted over the last couple of months. Well, it’s finally about to show it’s hand. You can only cheat the grim reaper for so long. The fact that we have gone sideways for 2 months now will only make the next leg down all the more painful, either in terms of price or time or likely both.

Similarly silver has been hanging on for dear life. Well, it’s grip on the edge of the cliff is about to get stomped on. We will finally get a break down toward the lower weekly bollinger and things could get extremely ugly.

GCC getting slammed today. Huge gap down. I suppose it’s understandable, fundamentally. So much for the inflation meme for the time being at least. Gold:silver ratio breaking out. 105 has to be on the table now.
