First I would like to thank everyone who came out to the conferences this week in Vancouver. I got to see a lot of you and spend some time chatting about the markets. It as a busy show which is encouraging for the metals sector but still plenty of room to grow.
This was another noteworthy week for a wide range of markets. At the World Economic Forum the US Dollar was talked down, then slightly up, then back down. After closing the week under 90 on the USD index the breakdown continues. Metals, including PMs performed well and gold closed just off of the highest weekly close in 2016. 2018 is off to a fast start. This is going to be an important year.

OOTB, I don’t understand what this has to do with boycotting Monsanto. Please explain.
When one farmer sees another farmer saving patented seed, they will often report them

Monsanto is not going anywhere , until the PUBLIC riots……..
Al, for my part, the saved seed issue is the least egregious aspects of Monsanto’s despicable behavior (sorry, I know I am being too kind to them, but I can’t think of anything lower at the moment).
Their “terminator” seeds that they patent (and which corrupts organic farmer’s seeds who are then sued by Monsanto for infringement) are but part of their attempt to control the world’s food production (per Henry Kissinger’s design, see: https://www.naturalnews.com/033343_food_weapons.html).
Their most egregious offense (in my opinion) is to tinker with the genes of living things … like putting the genes from BT bacteria into corn … which they say doesn’t hurt humans, but DOES hurt the bacteria in your gut (and produces all sorts of disease, since most of humans immune system is derived from gut activities.
Then there is the “roundup-ready” crops that have been developed, whose produce (like soybeans, corn and other commodities) have been tested after harvesting and found to contain significant quantities of roundup.

It is interesting to me, if I have their history correct, that Monsanto got it start by producing (among other things) defoliants like Agent Orange for warfare in Vietname (they were also behind PCB’s I believe, which are the most prevalent pollutant on earth, if I am not mistaken).
If there is a word that can describe Monsanto better than despicable, somebody please help me, as I cannot believe that they rise to that level.
Sorry … “terminator seeds” cannot corrupt other seeds (I mis-spoke, since terminator seeds don’t germinate more than once, being the evil things that they are) … I meant their other patented seeds (i.e., GMO seeds) corrupting other seeds … although anyone reading probably knew what I meant.

As I said below……Bird and I , had this conversation in 2007 (?) …concerning lawsuits and the local farmers in Indiana. It, is not about the seeds that the farms are reported stealing, but, a one grain of seed might turn up on a field , planted with 99.9% Pioneer seeds, and they find one stalk of grain that is Monsanto seed mixed into the field and Monsanto sues the farmer for trade mark seed stealing………
Jerry, Bird didn’t show up here until about 2013 and the comment section began in 2010 or 2011.

Of late, simply taking care of my wife.
I confess that I know virtually nothing about agriculture. I was always under the assumption that if a product was sold for human or animal consumption that it way okay to use it in that way.

The glyphosate herbicide that is used to drench Monsanto’s genetically engineered soy, corn, etc. damages the intestinal microbial ecosystem, leading to dysbiosis, gastritis, candida, leaky gut, SIBO, colitis, Crohns, etc., which lead to knock-on auto-immune problems, and malnutrition (which aggravates any number of problems, including arthritis and osteoporosis).
The industrial food/chemical/grocers cartel, in combination with the medical mafia, are as bad an enemy to the American people and the world as the financiers, MIIC, and media mafias. But I imagine there is all kinds of overlap in the control of all these industries.

Coincheck Hack: “The Biggest Theft in the History of the World”
Japanese cryptocurrency exchange loses more than $500 million to hackers
Japanese cryptocurrency exchange Coincheck says Friday that around 523 million of the exchange’s NEM coins were sent to another account around 3 a.m. local time.
The stolen coins were worth about 58 billion yen at the time of detection, or roughly $534.8 million, according to the exchange.
Coincheck management says it held the NEM coins in a “hot” wallet, referring to a method of storage that is linked to the internet.
Crypto currency exchanges remain the “single point of failure” in the new crypto currency paradigm. More people need to take hold of their own crypto currencies in their own wallets, be it desktop wallets, smartphone wallets, USB keys, paper wallets, etc.

I don’t understand the problem, really. Because everything is trackable. It is possible to follow all transfers…..they are recorded on the blockchain, even with coins that disguise movement like monero.
Yes exchanges are the obvious week point in the system: open to attack by governments and changes in laws and for hacking, because just like banks that’s where the money is.
How about just simply staying away, Mr. Pace. Then you are completely guaranteed to not loose any money.

Segment 4: Elliot Wave Theory is fairly easy to put into a computer, but how do you add corruption from outside forces, suppression, unnamed large-currency-amount influences, unbacked short sellers, and governmental desires?

The real challenge/issue/art of Elliot Wave is where does one start the wave count?
There are smaller wave counts, within larger wave counts, within even larger wave counts, and so over time many EW technicians are using different points as significant to mark the larger counts, thus reverse engineer down the smaller and smaller counts and come to vastly different conclusions.
Segment 8: If reporters “softballed’ questions to Mrs. Clinton because 1.) they thought she would win the Presidency, and 2.) they thought she would be vengeful after she won the office, then what does that say about the entire press media?
And if we are seeing live proof that the members of our un-elected internal bureaucracy actively works for or against elected officials, even before they are confirmed, without oversight or reprimand, then do we really have a nation “for and by the People”?

The concentration of control in the mass media is EXTREME, and there is good reason to believe that the controllers’ loyalty is to a country other than the United States.
Would the ETF GRU be a good way to play the grains in the future or is there a better way to play the grains in the commodities complex.
Other than the futures market, there are other ETFs.
DBA is a more general agriculture ETF, which has done better than GRU because of land price increases. JJG is about on a par with GRU. Sprott employees would probably have lots of alternatives, incuding some of their funds.
I forgot to mention WEET, which is a grain ETF, but has lowish volume.
FWIW, I used WEAT once but wouldn’t recommend it to anyone!

I’m thinking in terms here of foreigner + central banks buying the fangs and other market movers. At what point does that money exit and chase the European markets up up up!?
Yes, the drop in the dollar and soaring stocks is very much connected. Expect stocks to fall when the negative effects of the falling dollar (like price inflation) start coming into view.
Despite some appearances to the contrary, nation can’t inflate their way to prosperity. At best, serious stagflation is coming to the developed economies. That is, the economy will be stagnant while inflation sets in. Not many companies will continue to beat earnings estimates without significant exposure to the emerging economies. So conventional stocks will get sold while emerging markets’ stocks will be bought along with resource stocks and resources themselves (commodities).

Confused I agree that there is a connection to the currency fluctuations, the money printing which showed up as inflation in the equities, and the dollar weakness / euro strength keeping the markets volatile.
I had similar concerns for my retirement account, so a while back I switched it to 70% US Smallcap, Midcap, and Growth companies and 30% overseas and emerging markets. Previously it was about 90% US / 10% foreign. I’m not sure how this all plays out but I want spread around the risk a bit. The Currency Wars are a part of that.

Not all blockchains are totally decentralised. E.g. I don’t believe Ripple is.
The advantage of non-decentralization is speed.
Also, I expect future generations of crypto-like currencies may not use blockchain in crypto-format but use a blockchain, decentralized in a different format. e.g. hashgraph.
From what i have read, my understanding is that blockchain is simply the first step toward a better system.
Perhaps you all see why I stay away from cryptos.
Good point CFS. There are more than just Ripple that are not decentralized. People are just co-mingling the Bitcoin narrative and some of the initial altcoin speil with blockchain now. It is hard to keep up with all of it, but this leads to disinformation being perpetuated, disinformation, and painting everything with a broad brush (never a good idea).

Used to be, profitable companies had high share prices, pot companies are going to be hugely profitable.
There is something else about them, they create “hugely” amounts of employment, and govs receive “hugely” amounts of tax dollars.
This means everyone likes pot, except of course for the people with their head stuck up their butts, but for them, the govs get to play at ‘bafoonery’ with their roadside tests.
That will be a goodly amount of tax payer dollars wasted to satisfy the “head in butts” crowd and lots of gov employees get to justify themselves.
Everybody wins.
Well, except people that drive automobiles of course, meaning, the police can and will jail lots of innocent people, some things wont change.
I like RKS Rockshield Capital because they are seed investors in many pot stocks and then hold a strategic position when the stocks go public or are sold/acquired and participate in the upside without having to actually run the companies (like royalty or streaming companies)
They also have about a dozen Blockchain companies they are involved in, but again just have strategic seed investments.
I like that they have spread out their risk among a number of pot & blockchain companies, like an ETF, but still provide nice exposure to the upside of both sectors.

Every person on this board knows Novo is my biggest position and has been for years. My average cost is probably about $.60. I have the first shares I ever bought at $.25 still. Novo has crashed from $9 to $3 this year and I’m still up 400%.

Ive learned a ton by listening to all and making many mistakes. Made and lost a mill when it was real money….
I looked for 2 year for another commercial property to put cash in….. Trying to find a piece with value in lower BC is near impossible…..Never give up…..Bought for 2 mil couldn’t build it for 3, while fools in Van were buying tear downs in VAN for 1.5m…..
You know how it works..hard work….I mean 3-400 hrs month..some luck and a few brain cells. Ignore the pack.

I’m not sure who the 98% of my “artcitle” writers are so I can’t comment. If you are referring to the writers on the site, we have some of the best writers and thinkers on the web. If you think 98% are wrong, your understanding of markets is about 2%.
Matthew, Excelsior and I all were pointing out in December of 2015, January of 2016 that a resource bull market was starting. You disagreed and everything you were doing was brilliant and everything we were doing was stupid.
I know how my accounts have done in the last two years and I suspect Matthew and Excelsior has similar results. I have no debt, you do. I make hundreds of percent a year return and you don’t. So where you came up with the superiority attitude is beyond me.

If you knew ANYTHING about money management, you’d know that it’s not your winners/losers ratio that matters but HOW MUCH money you make on your winners vs. how much you lose with your losers.
Rick Rule was down 95% vs. his initial buy on Paladin Resources before the stocks went from 1ct to CAD10.
Soros batting average is about 60%.
I made a bunch of money on several stocks thanks to Bob Moriarty.
He’s one of the FINEST investors I have come accross as he has a flair for what is cheap and I owe him for these successes (= $$$) I have had.
A few times, I also closed at a loss a few positions on stocks that he had brought to my attention. However, I never blamed him, but only blamed myself.
More importantly, my gains FAR FAR FAR outweight my losses based on his recos.
If you don’t book profits when you CAN, you’ll probably have to take losses when you HAVE TO – which seems to have been your case in the past.
I seems you are whining, which is both childish and pointless. May I humbly suggest you read more about investing, and start being TRULY and FULLY esponsible for your OWN investment decisions when it comes to stocks investing.

There is a difference…..I don’t think the public were in favor of Obamacare.
I do think the public are in favor of immigration limitations.
I don ‘t think, I know that the 70% of American people were not in favor of Obamacare and that most Americans are not in favor of illegal immigration.
What should already be clear will be obvious for everyone…the federal “debt” being created isn’t actually “debt” at all. It is being created and spent with no intention of ever repaying it and the move back to zero % interest rates (or more likely NIRP) on that “debt” will make clear that it is simply centrally created and centrally directed monetization.
And the resultant wealth is being centrally directed to a shrinking minority of asset holders at the expense of the vast majority. The founding fathers worst nightmare come true.

Let me re-phrase the point of my comment above.
I believe there is a substantial difference in morality between the situations.
I believe the Republicans used the budget process to try to stop Obamacare, and in doing so were expressing the desire and will of the people.
With regards to Democrats tying DACA and immigration to the budget process, I believe they are doing so to push legalization of illegals; thereby guaranteeing the Democrats a better probability of winning elections in the future. And doing so against the will of the people.
Thus although the process may have a parallelism, the morality is entirely different in terms of doing the will of the people they are supposed to represent.
Inasmuch as the Democrats have a tendency to push liberalism and welfare dependence; while many Republicans vote according to money of lobbyists, this is the primary reason I would consider a Swiss-style direct democracy.
I do have reservations, however, that rule by the majority sometimes fails to protect the rights of minorities.
Normally the Judicial system would serve as protection, however the court system has become so polarized, that I believe this is no longer a safeguard.
That was why I suggested a proportionality (but not $ to vote direct) to the amount of taxes paid. Instead of One vote per dollar of taxes, perhaps 1 vote + 0.0001 x tax) votes per person.
I don’t have a perfect answer, but do recognize that we have a debt problem that is growing worse with no solution in sight.
Incidentally, correlating votes to tax paid automatically solves the voter ID problem.

My guess is that they figure they have no other choice except to cut public employee compensation, especially pensions. But they will never do that. I listened to segment 6 with Ryan Ko and he did a good job of explaining how bitcoin is produced using the blockchain tool to verify that a new “mined” bitcoin is legitimate. I think I understand that. But could you get him or someone on to explain in more detail why and how blockchain can be used (or is necessary to confirm real estate transactions). If Jack Jones sells a property to John Doe for $100,000 and that information is entered in a computer (and hopefully on paper too) what more can be done to confirm that it’s legitimate??? What algorithm is there to solve that would confirm that transaction?? I’m not trying to be sarcastic but I really don’t understand how blockchain would apply to transactions such as real estate. I was sold on the importance of EVs (from autos, to Electric Buses, and to eBikes) as well as the burgeoning markets for Industrial scal BackUp Batteries and Energy Storage before I ever heard Katusa discussing it, and positioned accordingly.
Back in 2012 & 2013 I was discussing and involved with Talison Lithium before they became the 1st primary Lithium producer (and eventually were taken private by Tianqui – a Chinese consortium). I was involved around the same time with Galaxy Resources when they built the words first mega-battery plant (which processed Talison’s ore) before running into a snag where they sold it to Tianqui.
I was heavily promoting Lithium miners like Galaxy Resources, Orocobre, Lithium Americas, Nemaska Lithium, and Pilbara Resources back in 2015 & early 2016 before things really got heated up, and many of those turned into 5-10 baggers + (despite what skeptics like Rick Rule, Brent Cook, and Doug Casey were saying at the time).
As for the Cobalt run last year, I posted on it consistently throughout the year, offered stock ideas, but didn’t invest as heavily in it personally, because it is hard to ferret out companies that may actually have an economic resource in Australia or Canada, but they are out there.
Graphite is important, but it’s been a laggard until recently. I have been doing my due diligence on this sector, and have found a few good companies and took a position in Leading Edge Materials with a few more to follow.
As for Nickel and Copper, those are huge markets, but yes I have exposure to each one and am beefing that up once I peel a little money out of some other areas first.
Anyone that has resisted this emerging trend over the last few years has done so at their own expense, as the returns in many of these Battery metals companies have been stellar, and many of them rallied the last 1 1/2 years where the PM stocks mostly channeled sideways to down consolidating the huge gains of the first 1/2 of 2016.
Who knows where it all ends, but there will be a few consolidated larger companies that emerge from each metal or mineral over the next few years, and many of the real smaller to mid-size companies will be consolidated (in fact we’ve already seen a lot of consolidation over the last few years, but we’ll start seeing even more in 2018 and moving forward.).

For Cobalt there isn’t one but there is a company called (KBLT) Cobalt 27 that has storage of cobalt and is going to start doing streaming deals with the new developing companies.

Pete, that’s one impressive rise but it looks ready for a break. I see that it has had several sharp and deep pullbacks before going to yet another new high, but even if that is all that is happening once again, I think it is going significantly lower.
Considering all the bargains in the gold and silver miners right now, and my outlook for them, I’d have a hard time not selling a significant part of a position in KAT if I had one.
However, it would probably be worth buying it back later as the monthly chart points much higher in the years ahead — probably many times its current price. I don’t know if you noticed, but it has exceeded its 2011 high this month.
Looking at the power and volume on the monthly chart, there is always the chance that it will just keep surprising to the upside but I don’t know how much I would let ride based on that possibility. Even the monthly RSI(14) is at a whopping 85 reading right now, the highest in 11 years.

Sending GBTC’s implied price for Bitcoin to over $17,600 – a 55% premium to the underlying price!
The concept of the DSI is simple. It shows the extent of investor sentiment. The higher the number, the more bullish investors are. With numbers above 90 you are in nosebleed territory and it suggests the market is about to turn lower. The lower the number, the more bearish investors are. With sentiment below 10 the market is saying the commodity is about to bottom and go higher.
For the S&P and the Nasdaq, the DSI went to a high of 96 and 97 after trading on the 22nd of January. Volatility hit a low of only 9 on the same day. On the 24th of January the Euro hit 90, the British Pound hit 94 while the lowly and unloved USD touched a low of 8. Crude oil topped at 93 and gasoline was the same.
Over in the metals gold touched 91, platinum showed 94 and palladium was 90. The CRB commodity index also hit a high of 90.
All of those numbers are either high enough or low enough to suggest a high probability of a turn shortly. With a Blue Moon, a Super Moon and a lunar eclipse coming on the 31st of January investors might want to position themselves for reversals in a lot of important markets.

Bob Hoye shared an interesting observation: “Last week’s high of $1345 came 57 weeks after the December 2016 bottom that we are identifying as the eight-year cycle low. As previously noted, highs typically occur from the 55th to 64th week and are followed by a downside correction to the 20-week moving average envelope ($1267) with an oversold CCI(8) reading of -100.”

I would just point out that this move could extend until March and still be within Hoye’s 55 to 64 week range. Despite the bearish action of the last few days, I still think we have a real chance at such an extension but I wonder what Hoye thinks now that gold has closed above 1350.
