Welcome!

I found this speech, given the speaker, to be thought provoking. How about you?

Matt Damon has also been involved in charitable work, including the ONE Campaign, H2O Africa Foundation, Feeding America, and Water.org
One of the good guys and a not-so-bad actor, even if Hollywood will never give him an Oscar. (Nominated 5 times.)

      CFS,

I researched him prior to posting this video. I think that he is much more independent that most would give him credit for and he seems to be pretty clear headed.

But is he well informed……thinking Elizabeth Warren would deliver justice is like believing Scrooge, pre-dreams, was a philanthropist.

          Sep 25, 2017 25:20 PM

          I would probably agree, Professor

Interesting a little bit was chopped out from the original speech:

Probably my fault as I am new at this type of posting.

      Sep 25, 2017 25:23 PM

I found nothing offensive in that short video even the comment about Trump. He stressed the faults of the banking system. How many of us would disagree with that? Elizabeth Warren? Ah, who cares!

        Sep 25, 2017 25:25 PM

Are you kidding, Al? Damon is just another idiotic Marxist that means well but doesn’t have a clue.

Damon was well-acquainted with Howard Zinn from a young age. Neighbors or family friends, if I remember correctly.

My impression is that Damon is well-intentioned and has some sound ideas and principles, but that he has fallen for Marxist solutions. Or he could be a dis-info agent. I haven’t watched him enough to try to make that distinction.

Regarding Zinn, at this point I don’t have a strong opinion. When I read him many years ago I thought highly of him. But I’ve learned a lot since then, and suspect I might react differently to his writing today.

One ploy of dis-info agents is to tell the truth about terrible abuses to get people riled into an emotional, irrational state, and then steer them toward a false solution. Get them emotional enough and committed enough to the cause, and they may never see their way clear of it. I believe this is what has happened with the plague of ilLiberals now afflicting us.

            Sep 26, 2017 26:39 AM

I believe that Damon’s good intentions are genuine (as were Zinn’s) but that’s not good enough. The road to hell…

    good for Damion.

People following Hitler is a really bad example tho. People wouldnt know that I guess.

    Damions crowd sounded awful small.

      Sep 25, 2017 25:21 PM

      Hi b,

Given the fact that it was a commencement address, I have no idea of the size.

    Completely off topic.

But I believe there was a great civilization 20,000 to 30,000 years ago responsible for many megalithic structures around the world. Structures which mankind would find difficult to build even today with modern technology.

We will slowly uncover the truth, since in today’s world nothing remains a secret forever.

      Sep 25, 2017 25:22 PM

Impossible to keep almost anything a secret today, Professor!

I agree with much of what he said especially the comment about the Declaration of Independence and war, however the comments about “distribution” and “redistribution” of wealth were terrible. Wealth is earned in a free society, not distributed. If we abolish the state how does he propose to distribute wealth?

      Sep 25, 2017 25:24 PM

Lot of ways to look at this. For example is personal donation to a charity a redistribution of wealth. I would argue that when Kath and I donate to our Church that is a redistribution of our wealth to the Church.

As I have said over and over Mark, semantics is a fascinating subject to me.

I believe that as a President, Trump is incompetent.

Where is the budget bill? By law that was supposed to be passed in April.

Has anyone seen a bill to replace Obamacare? I haven’t.
Just like Obama, we have to pass a bill to see it?
That is pure incompetency; Trump and Obama.

Where are all the nominations to replace all the Obama leftovers? No wonder Trump finds himself opposed by bureaucracy.

I don’t think Trump really expected to win, or he would have been better prepared.

I am dismayed that Trump could not be better organised. (It does not surprise me though. He was not that great a business man.)

    OFF TOPIC:
The world believes that Satoshi Nakomoto, an anonymous person, invented blockchain. According to Wikipedia, “The first blockchain was conceptualized by Satoshi Nakomoto in 2008 and was implemented the following year as a core component of the digital currency bitcoin, where it serves as the public ledger for all transactions.” You will learn in this book that Wikipedia and the rest of the world is wrong. The first and real inventor of blockchain is Dr. Kelce Wilson. This book will show you, without a doubt, that the first person to conceptualize, patent, and to implement blockchain was not Satoshi Nakomoto, but rather Dr. Kelce Wilson. The book includes the original patents showing the official dates when they were submitted and approved. It also includes a timeline of events, the interview transcript with Dr. Wilson explaining in his words his invention and feelings towards the situation, and other documents to give insight into blockchain and the future.
First: A book by Sarah Westall.

New is not always better. Like Kipling said, ” Stick to the devil you know.”
He who controls the power, internet, telecommunications and computer networks will have ultimate power over cryptocurrencies. Think about it.
