Natcore Achieves 19.4% Efficiency
Here is a comment from Chuck Provini regarding the recent news from Natcore on achieving higher efficiency from the Company’s solar cells.
You’ve probably noticed that our latest new releases have told of successes in our “Best of Breed” program. (We announced agreements to serve as consultants for solar projects in Australia, Belize, Vietnam and the Middle East.)
But we’ve also been careful to reassure you that our progress on the international front was not distracting us from our research work here at home.
So today I am pleased to tell you of the latest development in our Rochester labs. And it’s a big one. Our scientists have just created demonstration solar cells with an efficiency of 19.4%.
Let me put that in perspective. Today’s commercial solar cells have an efficiency of 17.5%. So the Natcore Foil Cell™ is already showing efficiency that is 11% higher than the typical cell. And Dr. David Levy, our Director of Research & Technology, feels that 20% is within reach. (To learn about Dr. Levy’s background, view this link.)
