Denzo Confirms Solar Project in Australia with Natcore

Cory
October 17, 2016

Natcore just expanded its “Best of Breed” program with an agreement with Denzo Group to help with a solar project in Australia. Below is a comment from Chuck Provini on this recent agreement as well as the news release from Denzo.

I will be chatting with the Natcore team next week in New Orleans at Brien Lundin’s show so if you have any questions for the Natcore team please leave them in the comment section or email me directly.

Here is the comment from Chuck…

Some things are worth waiting for.

Take, for example, our “Best of Breed” project in Australia. We’ve been working on it since 2013, when we announced a Memorandum of Understanding with Denzo Group Australia. Then, a year later, we announced formation of a joint venture with Denzo.

We’ve learned that these things take time: land acquisition, financing, government approvals, etc.

Today, our partner Denzo distributed a news release announcing that they have selected a site for a solar farm. It’s a big step that has put a smile on our face. When joined with our recently announced projects in Belize and Vietnam, it’s marking us as a serious player in the international solar industry. And we have other projects in the pipeline.

Progress continues.

Sincerely,

Chuck

    Have a squiz at this….

    http://arena.gov.au/programs/advancing-renewables-program/large-scale-solar-pv/

ARENA (an Aus givt dept) has just dolled out $200m in subsidies for Aus solar projects. Many of these projects are now looking for Power Purchase Arrangements with Australian electricity retailers, as these retailers have environmental certificate liabilites stretching out until Dec 2030- under the australian Renewable Energy Target policy.

A lot of these successul grant recipient companies won’t end up building their projects due to a standoff with the retailers (who aren’t committing to PPAs).

I reckon you could ask him in your interview whether he can achieve financial close on his project in due course with purely Merchant exposure (ie with no locked in PPAs / no locked in certainty over revenues)

What can you tell us about the progress in your lab? Did you reach new efficiency figures? Will we see license agreements in 2016? Best of breed is just a side play, what is going on in your core business?

This is science so until breakthroughs occur there is nothing to report. Similarly he can’t tell you he is 70% through a deal with another party because deals are either completed or may never reach agreement. That is how negotiations work.
You have to wait and hope like everyone else, instead of thinking he is writing a book and asking him how many pages are completed.

    can you ask this question.
mr. Provini…Natcore start development of QUANTUM DOT 10 zears ago, same like LPD. NREL gave you a licennce of BLACK SILICON in 2011 , about 5 year, LASER SOLAR CELL are in development since 2013, abou 3 year.
We never see in Natcore website a picture of BLACK SILICON or LASER SOLAR CELLS, also a modul with this type ov cells.
For first time can you tell us the thrue about this type od cells, about commercila time if thsi development is reality.
    Thank you.

Clearly, Natcore’s technology was a far easier sell to investors than manufacturers. Why has not one manufacturer jumped on board with a license agreement after all these years.
Why are they reluctant and what are their main reservations? Do they know something we don’t?
Also, when will we see hard revenue projections with definitive timelines for the Best of Breed program?
