I will admit I like the the HIT cell because it’s open circuit voltage is much less sensitive to higher temperatures when it is in operation.
It seems to me that NATCORE’s methodology involves replacing the chemical etch of the front electrodes with some laser etching/annealing, but I really don’t know from what they have said.
I assume the n+ and the p+ amorphous layers are sputtered on as normal and I understand the intrinsic layer is needed to reduce interface recombination, but that is standard in this configuration. Where are the 20% savings?
We will bring that up to Chuck and Brian.
In the undated “Presidents Message” he talks of a private placement cut short. Is this the one from April? Are they really short of money like TLT got & have to dilute the shares waaaaaay tooooooooo much?
I understand the fundamental technology of the HIT CELL. I do not understand the improvement that Natcore has created.
The HIT cell was developed in the mid to late nineties by Sanyo, before it was bought out by Panasonic, and has been in use for over a decade commercially. e.g. Walt Disney Sudios in Burbank has it even with front and backside light input, over a walkway.
The normal fabrication involves a transparent oxide (ITO) layer on the front side with metallic strips. This is all done at temperatures below 200 degrees C, so what is NATCORE’s breakthrough technology?
