Nick Hodge – Macroeconomic Themes In 2025, Opportunities In Gold, Uranium, And Copper Stocks – More Technological Innovations In The Mining Sector

Nick Hodge, Co-Owner of Digest Publishing and editor of Foundational Profits and Hodge Family Office, joins for a longer-format discussion on and the macroeconomic themes and geopolitics impacts on global trade and the US economy, along with investing opportunities that he sees in select gold, uranium, and copper resource stocks. We also revisit emerging trends on how technology is being implemented within the mining sector.

First off we get Nick’s outlook for 2025 on that broader US equity market with regards to the Trump administration anticipated policy initiatives. It’s a nuanced discussion on macroeconomics that briefly touches up on the health of the economy, and trends in the projected data around GDP, jobs, inflation, the US dollar, tariffs, tax cuts, and what sectors of the broad US equities have his attention with the emerging backdrop.

We then shift over the commodities space and bounce around from gold and silver fundamentals to the opportunities in precious metals stocks, then to uranium stocks, copper stocks, and eventually touch briefly upon other niche metals like nickel, rare earths, and antimony.  We talk again about the US and Canadian involvement in helping to fund certain critical minerals projects, technology that will be tracking the supply chain and emissions around extractive companies, and some of the other ways that technology is being deployed from a data mining, equipment, tailings, or processing standpoint within the mining sector.

Equinox Gold (TSX: EQX, NYSE American: EQX) Reports Record Quarterly and Annual Gold Production: Produced 213,960 Ounces of Gold in Q4 2024 and 621,870 Ounces of Gold for Full-year 2024

“Greg Smith, President & CEO of Equinox Gold commented: “2024 was a pivotal year for Equinox Gold, defined by our success at Greenstone. We consolidated 100% ownership of the mine, achieved commercial production, and produced more than 111,700 ounces of gold in the first, partial year of operations at Greenstone. Several of our mines delivered their strongest fourth quarter in the Company’s history, contributing to consolidated 2024 production of approximately 621,870 ounces of gold, the highest annual production since Equinox Gold’s founding. I’d been asking so many people if the upcoming Q4 production quarter from the quality producers would finally get investors attention. Most folks in the know know agreed that it was likely, although there were plenty of doubters based on how Q3 went. From what we are seeing come in from some of these early reporting gold producers on their Q4 production metric and the market response, that answer is a resounding “Yes!” — investors are paying attention.

One day doesn’t make a market, but think about the kinds of percentage moves we are seeing in the mid-tier and smaller producers just outlined above:

    – Calibre (CXB) – closed up 9.5% today on this positive Q4 production news.

    – GoGold (GGD) – closed up 7.6% today on this positive Q4 production news.

    – Equinox Gold (EQX.TO) – closed up 10% today on this positive Q4 production news.

So many people think they can only get the outsized gains in super-risky early-stage drill plays.

These established gold/silver producers with known and defined ounces in the ground and backstopped by real value are up 9.5%, 7.6%, and 10% in a day because they delivered on their thesis. For some investors that used to be a good year!

For those that erroneously believe that rubbish from the Lassonde Curve that once a company goes into production that it is fully valued, they really need to exercise some critical thinking about why that makes absolutely no sense = nonsense.

I’ll never understand why more investors are not exposed to more producers when there are bullish turns in the sector or margin expansion periods. Of course not every producer has good leverage, but I’ve covered over and over again here on this blog or in my Substack articles why companies like Calibre Mining, or GoGold, or Equinox are “growth-oriented producers” that will have that torque.

There will be more results like this piling in from Q4. #GotGoldProducers?

In the interview above with Nick Hodge, he mentioned how well K92 did today. The markets were still open when we were chatting earlier, but (KNT.TO) closed up today 15.9%, again on solid production news.

Again, a huge daily gain for a mid-tier producer, that is a real legitimate revenue-generating company.

This should be a bell ringing for PM stock investors, but it will be curious to see who all is listening…(?)

Late Monday night I put out an update to Substack subscribers on why I felt Silver Tiger was both fundamentally and technically ready to rerate higher.

It was at $0.22 when I wrote that article, and (SLVR) just surged up 27% to close at $0.28 after the last 2 days trading action with no new news from the company and silver prices trending essentially sideways.

There were no other interviews conducted that I’m aware of other than the one we posted here at the KE Report on Monday; which the company then blasted back out to investors on Tuesday.

Lots of interesting risk/reward value setups out there in the PM stocks (particularly the silver stocks) at present.
