Axel Merk – A Precious Metals Fund Fighting Off An Activist Investor, What It Means For The Funding Environment For Junior Stocks
Axel Merk, President and CIO of Merk Investments and Manager of the ASA Precious Metals Fund joins us to discuss the activist investor going after the ASA Fund and how this relates to the funding environment for junior resource stocks.
We have heard for years how difficult it has been for junior companies to raise money. Major miners have consolidated and are focused on disposing of assets rather than acquiring juniors, exchanges have made it tougher for investors outside of Canada to fund companies, and costs continue to rise. All of of these factors build on themselves and put pressure on junior companies to do the work needed to discovery and grow assets.
Axel shares his insights on where money could come from and what he focuses on when investing and funding junior exploration companies.

Hi Nawanda. I’ve not really posted my complete list of holdings anywhere in some time; but yes, I am starting to unpack it in my newsletter over at Substack… little by little…
Here I’ve discussed publicly about 7 of the “growth-oriented gold producers” I hold in this series, and gave a larger list of gold producers I’m positioned in from the (Part 1) of that series.

I talked about a few more of the gold and silver stocks I have had in the portfolio towards the bottom of this piece, but I did pull some profits in Galiano and Montage recently.
Gold And Silver Popped – Now What About Your PM Stocks?

Additionally, I covered the royalty and streaming companies I’m positioned in this article from last month:
Opportunities With Mid-Tier And Junior Royalty Companies – Part 1

I’ve put out a few Uranium articles disclosing the positions I hold, but am working on an update to that, as I swapped out a position recently, so stay tuned (or just subscribe — currently it is still free to do so).
As for the gold developers and explorers, I’ve been shuffling some of those around, so have been waiting to start updating folks with those in future articles.
As for the silver producers, developers, and explorers, I’m in a lot of them too (about 20) so I’ll be starting to put out more and more articles on those over time.
Also, if people read the company write ups on our interviews here at the KE Report, I disclose at the bottom if I hold positions in those stocks at the time of recording.
thank you
Ex
do you have a list or substack of your existing Gold/Silver miner portfolio? Wanted to compare to what I’m doing.
