I am getting extremely mad at politicians who evaluate abortion based on their probability of getting re-elected depending on which way they vote.
Any politician who states that is shallow, incompetent and should be fired.
The issue of abortion is not solely and simply about women’s rights.
For several thousand years in many different countries IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT BALANCING THE RIGHTS OF THE PREGNANT WOMAN WITH THOSE OF THE FETUS.
If you think the fetus should have no rights until born, then abortion should be legal, period.
If you think the fetus has rights when it becomes viable, society tends to accept Roe vs Wade law.
I guess, in theory, society could decide on many different possibilities for the rights of a fetus.
Giving a fetus rights immediately when conceived would lead to banning abortions.
In theory, however, one could arbitrarily give the fetus rights based on time since conception, or size, or sex……. There are many possible factors.
To discuss abortion ONLY in terms of the potential mother simply obfuscates logic.
