Jordan Roy-Byrne – It’s A Bull Market In Precious Metals
Jordan Roy-Byrne, Founder and Editor of The Daily Gold, has humorously referred to himself as a “bearish bull” for some time now, but in this interview he reviews the reasons based on fundamental analysis, technical analysis, and inter-market analysis of why he is comfortable stating we are in a bull market for precious metals.

No More US Dollars? Ukraine War Could Change The Global Monetary System Of 75 Years
Rudra Sensarma and Kaushik Bhattacharya – April 13, 2022
“Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has exposed some deep fault-lines in the global economic system. By freezing half of Russia’s foreign exchange, or forex, reserves, the West has declared economic war with central bank assets as the target. Russia had amassed $640 billion in forex reserves but now finds itself left with only gold and assets in other denominations, such as the Chinese renminbi.”
“One of the issues Rajan flagged was developing countries building up huge foreign exchange reserves that are invested in US assets. This was made possible by the debt-financed consumption model of the US and the US dollar being a safe-haven currency.”
“Because the US dollar is the global currency, all prudent central banks of the world keep a significant portion of their forex reserves in US dollar-denominated instruments (for example, treasury bills, government bonds or simply deposits). Many people are unaware that these forex reserves of various central banks are actually held with the banking system of the US and not in the respective central banks’ own vaults.”
“The Ukraine war has exposed the imbalance in the global financial system run primarily by the West. When the West decides the course of a currency, others must take it as given. When the West imposes sanctions, others must follow the diktat even to the detriment of their interests. And sanction means all of one’s accumulated assets can be frozen by the West, as Russia has experienced and others are realizing can happen to them too…”

Gold is the Ultimate Currency, It Can’t Be Duplicated
Stansberry Research – April 13, 2022
“If CPI continues to move higher, ‘gold will take off,’ says Chris Mancini, Gabelli Funds Senior Analyst. Inflation is going to come down, “and it won’t persistently stay at this level,” he tells our Daniela Cambone. As the Fed raises rates through this year, “economic activity will decline,” which will be a driving factor for precious metals to go up, he says. “Gold has a way of making its way into markets,” Mancini continues, saying he doesn’t see a supply shock in the precious metal’s forecast. The industrials and materials sector analyst says when deciding on miner companies worthy of investment, “you have to pick the miners least exposed to cost inflation.” “You can’t make another gold,” as it stands unique among all safe haven opportunities, Mancini concludes.

Shanghai Zinc Price Soars To Near 15-Year High
Mining.com – April 13, 2022
“Shanghai zinc prices rallied to their highest since July 2007 on Wednesday on worries over supply shortages in top consumer China.”
“Benchmark zinc on the London Metal Exchange hit $4,521.50, the highest since March 8. Prices of the metal, used to galvanize steel, hit a record high of $4,896 a tonne last month.”
https://www.mining.com/zinc-price-soars-to-near-15-year-high-in-china/
As mentioned on the Dave Erfle blog yesterday, the high Zinc prices are continuing to be a boon to many of the “Silver” producers and developers, as Zinc is a significant co-credit for many of the silver equivalent ounces reported in the sector.
Also companies with heavier zinc exposure have been starting to move finally. Trevali Mining (TV) has had a very nice move the last 2 months, and is up about 20% in the last 2 trading sessions alone. Nice to see the zincsters finally starting to get some traction.

Zinc-Air Batteries Get Solar Energy Makeover
Mining.com – April 10, 2022
“Researchers at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) developed a technology to improve the electrochemical performance of zinc-air batteries by utilizing solar energy.”
“Zinc-air batteries, which produce electricity through a chemical reaction between oxygen in the atmosphere and zinc, are considered to be next-generation candidates to meet the explosive demand for electric vehicles instead of lithium-ion batteries.”
https://www.mining.com/zinc-air-batteries-get-solar-energy-makeover/
I am zinc heavy. Hasn’t mattered….yet ….
Well it is still company dependent, but most of the good zinc stocks have had really nice runs recently especially over the last few days like Trevali, Tinka, Ironbark Zinc, Fireweed Zinc, Zinc One, Osisko Metals, Solitario Zinc, Slave Lake Zinc, etc…
If you are referring to Emerita as the zinc heavy position, it’s kind of a special situation stock that has been marching to the beat of it’s own drum and has had a big bullish and bearish narrative going on with traders and technical trading effecting it that is sideline to what is happening in the zinc space, so EMO is a bird of a different feather.
I gave up on pure zinc plays after the last time tv tanked …always seemed more bust than boom….good to see it work out for once
I exited most of the zinc explorers too, but with Trevali, got more aggressive buying TV when it corrected hard, and that has worked out well, as it has been chugging along to the upside lately as Zinc has been breaking out. I believe as they start paying down their debt with better revenues that Trevali could still rip much higher.
I am heavy Emerita which primary metal so far is zinc, with silver, lead, gold. I also have Osisko Metals, Fieweed, Vendetta, Ascendant Resources, Honey Badger Silver, Inomin Mines …not all predominant zinc, but zinc is a part.
Emerita just got to be the center of attention and the object if shorts. A couple of weeks ago, it had a short squeeze of 40% in one day and it took about 3 days for the shorts to be bailed out. Still waiting for news to push forward but the known resource is predominantly zinc with 400-500 mil ounces silver backing with several new properties yet to be drilled in the pyrite belt.

Yes uranium is looking good….is this the time to claim conspiracy since my comment about uranium late last week never got posted in the end????…or is that conspiracy reserved for certain individuals???😏……might want to add ivor exploration to that list. I haven’t bought it yet myself but Doc Jones has
haha! I think Uranium stocks just worked off big run from last year from Nov – Feb and then bottomed and starting bouncing and we are just seeing some follow though now.
As for the conspiracy on your uranium post not showing, not sure about that, as I didn’t see any of your posts that didn’t hit, and there were none in moderation so it always could be user error you know … 😉 A lot of posts don’t go up because of how people submit them.
Yes, I do have IVOR on the uranium list as well, but was only posting U stocks in the green yesterday on the big move higher, and Ivor was down 6% so it didn’t make the cut on that post.
Gold Price Extends Gains To Reach 1-Month High With Inflation Soaring
Mining.com – April 13, 2022
“Gold extended its streak of gains on Wednesday as demand for the safe-haven metal continued to rise against soaring inflation amid the Russia-Ukraine war. Spot gold rose 0.6% to $1,979.66 per ounce by 12:30 p.m. ET, its highest in a month. US gold futures were up 0.3% to $1,981.80 per ounce in New York.
“Gold seems to be ignoring the stronger dollar and rising US rates, and they seem to be singularly focused on inflation,” Edward Meir, an analyst with ED&F Man Capital Markets, told Reuters.
https://www.mining.com/gold-price-extends-gains-to-reach-1-month-high-with-inflation-soaring/
It is interesting that the main stream financial media that told us for so long that gold was not a good inflation hedge, and that it must sell off on interest rate hikes and strong dollar is now admitting that it is is a good inflation hedge and is moving higher with rate hikes and a strong dollar. Hilarious.
Glad I didn’t know that or I would have put everything in Facebook. 🙂
Haha! Good one Lakedweller2. 🙂
At least you didn’t put everything in Paypal, Squarespace, Shopify, Peleton, Palantir, Teledoc, Roblox, Roku, or the Ark Innovation ETF last year during the silly valuation mania…
Is 7 out of 9 bad? Just kidding. Nope … I used have stuff like Microsoft and Apple. I was sure they were overbought before they went up for 12 years. I went for the safe haven instead. I probably would have written Letters to The Editor of Pravda complaining about freedom.

I couldn’t agree more with Jordan’s bullishness and the way he intends to play the setup… I disagree with Jordan’s view that it will be 3-4 months before gold breaks out to new highs. I think it will happen in April or May but we agree that those who haven’t bought their miners should do so now.
Matthew:
I agree with you that I think we are near. I think a lot of issues are coming together faster than our handlers can cure with their algos. They pushed things too far.
It’s mid-2005 again, but better…

The miners are finally in for a bull market that sees them smoke real money, not just dollars. The 36 quarter MA for XAU:GOLD is just now turning up for the first time in 25 years (in addition to countless other bullish factors). The XAU needs to rise more than 4 times versus gold just to reach its 1996 high. If gold happens to be $5,000 when (if) it does so, the XAU would trade at $2,000, well over ten times the current price.

Matt,
just finished his last speculative buys in ALL (100k) his gold and silver plays…he is fully loaded as they say. Things look very good going forward; t least from his conservative perspective. I hope we are really about to really move up for years to come. I have a feeling it’s gonna be a ride!
Thanks Confused, I couldn’t agree more with the bullish outlook. Just remember that no matter how many years the sector runs, there will (100% WILL) be brutal pullbacks along the way along with consolidations that can wear us out. Making AND keeping big gains always presents challenges.
I think that one worked well, and appreciate you sharing that chart.
If 2005 history repeats more than rhymes, silver could be at $50 by early June. No, that’s not a prediction but a large move of some kind looks probable, not just plausible.
https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=%24SILVER&p=M&yr=20&mn=11&dy=0&id=t1264815654c&a=1130214827&r=1649901312969&cmd=print
Matthew,
I get extremely excited when I read through your comments regarding it being 2005 all over again. Just as I was getting warmed up a few week’s back when you echoed Jordan’s bullishness.
Honestly, I was surprised to see the lack of zest in the PMs during the last surge in metal price. I would have expected to see a better pop and positive reaction to the stocks.
It’ll be interesting to see what a $50 silver price would mean for the market.
I hope we’ll be seeing an exiting response going forward…. Even for IPT. 🙂
Canuckski, I still maintain that any lack of zest among the miners stems primarily from continued pressure on the general stock market and silver being technically way behind gold (which, as of now (today!), is mostly corrected). SILJ matched to the penny its March high yesterday but today it exceeded it by a penny and obtained its best weekly close since June. More importantly, it broke through important resistance that had given it trouble for the last 5 weeks.
https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SILJ&p=W&yr=2&mn=7&dy=0&id=p33658240073&a=1142864365
SILJ also now has 6 weekly closes above the most important weekly price pivot and, also for the first time since June, it has closed the week above its weekly Ichimoku Cloud. That steeply rising KAMA is also good as it owes its existence to the 6 week 41 percent move off the January low which shows a character change in the market.
https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SILJ&p=W&yr=3&mn=0&dy=0&id=p37743493908
Speaking of single pennies, SLV had its golden cross (50 ma over the 200 ma) weeks ago and today it had its Fibonacci based golden cross (55 ma over 233 ma) by one cent after delivering bullish break outs earlier this week…
https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=SLV&p=D&yr=1&mn=6&dy=0&id=p16704203193&a=1014868654
IPT took back a bunch of long term weekly MAs this week…
https://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=IPT.V&p=W&yr=7&mn=3&dy=0&id=p95570288142&a=1120431734
It also looks like it is getting ready to blow away SILJ as it always does during bull market advances.
IPT vs SILJ:

Thanks for sharing those SILJ charts Matthew. That seems reasonable to me for it to break higher, and I had mentioned that to a few folks earlier today in conversations that it looks like SILJ put in a bottom and is trending higher out of an almost W-shaped pattern.
While the CCI and Full stochastics are overbought, I’d submit that with a reading of both lines over 80 on the stoch’s that they are “embedded” and can stay that way a bit longer while pricing moves higher. The RSI is still not really that overbought yet either.
Holy crap. I had sold out of Pure Gold for a tax loss mostly in March and then finished selling the remaining portion in early April, and that stock has continued to get absolutely creamed here. I sure took a loss on it, but it was less than a 1% portfolio position, so not the end of the world for me. Most longer term investors took a boot to the face on this company over the last 2 years though. It’s a shame, as I also had sold 2 partial positions on the way up a few years as they neared first gold pour that were 3 baggers, however the rest of the position ended up being a loss where I had averaged down at one point.
Pure Gold has been a disaster of a start up for sure, but it didn’t need to be. They started by not having their mining sequences down and not enough stopes, and then they blasted way too much ore and had too much “overbreak” or waste rock in the mix…. so their head grade was like 1/4 of what it was projected to be. Then they had water issues and teething issues with the mill, and didn’t get enough production going fast enough to cover the debt burden. I believe a more competent team could have made this work, and there were just too many mistakes back to back and then the prior financing diluting down more shareholders, and then this recent financing may have been the final nail in the coffin.
PGM is clearly being priced for all out failure at this point. They still have all that gold in the ground, and some of the newly discovered high grade pockets at depth (like the 8 Zone) are bonanza grade, so there is some redeeming features about the deposit. They also just completely swapped out their whole management team and some board members.
I’m almost tempted to get back into this fugly looking dog of a stock, and angle for an AngloGold Ashanti potential takeover offer, and play it like I did Klondex and Richmont and Eastmain at the very end of their lifecycles before getting taken over. I did the same thing for a little bit with TMAC, when it was swirling the drain, but then exited because I was concerned it was going bankrupt.
At this point, I have that same concern for Pure Gold now = that the stock could just blow up, which would be an even bigger black eye for the Oxygen Capital group with Mark O’Dea, but something tells me they’d rather sell it to a company like (AU) than let it go to zero. Then they could at least tout it was taken over.
I may let my 30 day wash period on at least part of the PGM position play out and then take a stab at poaching it next week as an extreme situation / potential dead cat bounce and possible takeover, but still mulling it over as this one may be down for the count at this point.
It is insanely hard to get a new mine up and running on time, on budget, and at the planned throughput and grade, etc…
Just look at how many companies have struggled in the last few years to get their mines up and running well: McEwen Mining (on multiple mines), Americas Gold and Silver (at the Pershing Mine), Harte Gold (they never could get it done right), Alio Gold (took over Florida Canyon from Rye Patch and also did a face plant, then Argonaut took it over and did better, but had their own issues with cost overruns at Magino development), Alexco (delays at Keno Hill, so behind expectations), Novo Resources (Beatons Creek not going as well as planned), Aurcana (has done a belly flop at Revenue Virginius), and now Pure Gold looks like they are biting the dust.
There are a very few companies though that got their mines up and running well… Remember Atlantic Gold – they did a good job. Recently, I’ve stayed invested with both Mako Mining and Thor Explorations through their start up process, and they’ve both done a pretty good job overall. We just had Segun from Thor on the show earlier today, and I’m impressed with how well they are doing in their 2nd quarter of operations, with better throughput than the nameplate numbers, 95% recovery rates, grade increasing, and overall doing a bang up job. I congratulated him on pulling off what most companies can’t seem do in such a short time period, actually pull gold out of the ground profitably.
Guanajuato Silver has done a pretty good job as well, but they were more of a reboot of the already producing mine they picked up from Endeavour Silver, so it wasn’t really a “new” mine, but then again, neither was Novo’s Millennium Mill, or Alio’s Florida Canyon, or Alexco’s Keno Mine. I feel like Alexco is getting their situation sorted out though finally.
It will be interesting to see how Bear Creek Mining does with the operating Mercedes Mine they picked up from Equinox Gold.
I like orezones chances of being in the good job category
Yeah, I believe Orezone is on track for a good launch into production, and am holding onto most of the position as they graduate from developer to producer, but peeled a little bit off recently just to book the wins of the last few years.
Dave Kranzler has been covering Pure Gold in some detail. May want to get his thoughts in an interview if he is available.
I must point out there is no helium etf so it sucks if you have only dipped your toes in the sector like I have. They have all had moves but at different points and I haven’t been fortunate enough to flip from one to other to get the full advantage of these moves but it’s definitely a hidden sector that is doing its best impression of REE stocks of the past
Dollar and Gold now move in tandem more often than not.
I find it amazing that so many people don’t understand the housing market in Toronto, or anywhere. I talked to an accountant yesterday and she thought the parabolic high prices were caused by supply and demand while that might be part of the problem it is less than 10%. So many educated people with degrees can regurgitate information on an exam paper but they have very little critical thinking ability. Education is a waste of time if you can’t figure out that the reason for an education is to teach you how to think. DT
Well I’m intrigued. What’s the other 90%???
Wolfster, I’m sure you can figure it out unless you have invested a lot of your money in Toronto Real Estate over the last 15 years and in particular the last ten years! 😎
Well I know it’s not cheap labour for the Reno’s. Lol…. I only wish I had enough money to be invested in real estate in Toronto the last 15 yrs…..house flippers paradise but almost everyone associated with the industry is clueless to the fact that there are times when prices actually go down for longer than a blip…..they all say supply constraint will always be there so prices will always go up. 🙄
Same algos on another day. No wonder the World hates US bankers.
Hi Ex, You are bang on about Santacruz Silver and Impact, Santacruz is a favorite of mine after you started talking about it many moons ago. I usually don’t hold stocks for the long term but this one I have. It is starting to Bubble, Pop, Boom, Fizz, Flash, I can sense it emerging from the swamp! The creature from the zinc lagoon. DT
Yeah agreed DT. IPT and SCZ have a lot of boom, pop, fizz, flash, blam, slam, and jam… Loving it!
Libero Copper showing life…what should I do?
Lakedweller, move to a basement apartment, hoard foodstuffs, and prepare for the the big meatball to come crashing out of the sky! DT
I was thinking more along the lines of getting my oil changed and tires rotated. But, your thoughts seem to have merit.
Man, I’m starving for a meatball sub now. 🙂
Hi Lakedweller2 – Personally I’m still holding Libero as my largest copper stock position, and have been, so it’s well in the money at this point, but I’m going to at least keep all the position on until we get back some assay results on this long 1200 meter hole. Again, I don’t think they would have extended it if they didn’t like what they were seeing coming out of the core.
In my mind, and if Libero has a good long mineralized intercept over hundreds of meters or over the full 1200 meters, then that could really move the needle for them, like what happened with both Solaris Resources (SLS) and Filo Mining (FIL). If we see a move in Libero anywhere close to what those 2 copper stocks had play out over the last 18 months, then this could be a longer journey. It would lead to more follow up deep drill holes and would grow Macoa in size and scale fairly quickly. We’ll have to see how these assays come back on this first deep hole, and there is some assay risk as it could disappoint, but again, why in the world did they keep extending it so long if they weren’t at least somewhat constructive on the mineralogy coming back in the core?
Also, keep in mind, this is still just 1 of 4 projects the company holds. I’m pretty interested in seeing what comes from future exploration at Esperanza and Big Red as well.
So much for the banking sector’s attempted bounce this week.

TLT bulls also failed. The decoupling from gold in December is something many thought wouldn’t happen, at least not yet and the extreme bond market weakness since has without a doubt been the reason for so many getting gold wrong. The charts were clear but some chose to bet on their beliefs and biases instead.
