The Dangerous Game Both Powell and Trump Are Playing
Chris Temple kicks off today with a recap on Fed Vice-Chair Richard Clarida speech this morning. The real focus will be on the G20 meeting at the end of this week and the Fed meeting in December. As Chris states both Powell and Trump are playing dangerous games but is one of them more oblivious to how bad it could get for the US?

Interesting points brought up there. While I remain a Trump fan versus the alternative in 2016, I too am starting to have some doubts regarding his trade policy. I just wonder if he understands that the US must run a trade deficit if it wants to maintain the dollar as the world’s reserve currency.
Lose it to what?, boots on the ground here in Asia, I live here. No one wants RMB, so what’s the alternative? That whole US losing reserve currency has been debunked. Even by Chris, he is a smart guy and I enjoy his stuff. I just have a view that he, Trump is our only hope.
Nigel makes a technical point here, Chris–without the trade deficit there ARE NO dollars abroad to serve as the reserve currency. It’s not about what currency is better, it’s the mechanics of the system. Hugo Salinas Price has discussed this very well.
I find it amusing that Trump fans celebrate tariffs that amount to a tax on THEM. These “conservatives” aren’t for free markets at all.
I live in Asia. The CCP is as evil as it gets. The are running the drug trade in Asia. They have bought off congress, The own our universities, the FBI is crooked and in Bad with the deep state. If we do not have the balls to stand up to them they will turn us communists. To hell with the stock market, we are being invaded from within. Pure evil.

I know your history and you’ve always been a Patriot. I would say just this, Hedgeye got me out of oil stocks and gold and into TLT, Remember I live in Asia on the top of a mountain. Have been to China 50 plus times. China is a Ponzi like no other in History. China is the bankers dream,,,,,but the game is over. No one here will take RMB, USD? Oy yea!
I’ve also commented numerous times on all those things RE: China…my point simply is, as I have said often, Trump needs to understand the totality of what the consequences will be if he goes all the way to the mat with China. I’ve compared his team’s goals to what Reagan’s were toward the Soviets in the 80’s. Same program, but way different player in China.
Ok, fair enough thanks for the answer. Perhaps we have a different view.
