The USD is following a similar chart pattern from last year
On today’s market wrap I focus on three different markets. To kick off I take a look at the Canadian dollar and if it has the ability to break it’s downtrend line. Next up is copper which I think the breakout is now over and have an update range that the metal will trade in. Finally the US Dollar chart I go more in depth and look at a very similar pattern that we saw last year.

With regard to the US Dollar.
The Fed is currently monetizing almost 75% of US debt which is being rolled over.
(Fed holds $2.4 Trillion of treasuries already)
China is selling off US debt to buy resources.
Europe is in financial trouble all over the place.
Japan has an debt level which is difficult to handle.
From a fundamental point of view, the US dollar sucks.
If it were not that many other countries are worse, the dollar would be dropping.

sorry – meant Bhandari
I alway enjoy getting Jayant’s thoughts. Good guy.
Thats it CFS. I wonder how calamitous the fall will be when the USD slides eventually? All this can kicking will surely end disastrously at some point, just a matter of when. The mere fact the US has monetized nearly 3/4 of its own debt is amazing to say the least
That is not what I said/ The US is monetizing almost 75% of new debt.
Luckily there is a lot of 30 year debt out there.
Unfortunately the Obama administration, in order to keep cost low, has been going to shorter term debt/
Ohh ok, thats more manageable i suppose. You didnt mention new debt initially which is what made it so surprising. It makes sense for Obama to target short term debt for cost cutting. Still the debt size is a big problem that is only growing larger. Not just in the US either.
