Recorded live from the Sprott Natural Resource Symposium Cory had the opportunity to sit down with Eric Roth, COO for Mariana Resources (TSX.V:MARL and TSX.V:MRA. Mariana has a very high grade property in Turkey that has garnered a lot of attention over the past 18 months. Some of you might remember Eric as a director of Extorre Gold Mines before it was acquired by Yamana back in 2012.

Asian buying seems to be pulling PMs up.

SGE prices higher than US right now.

Not covered in the Kitco announcement, was how leveraged the new SLW gold stream from Vale is to the price of gold:

Wow. I had not kept up with the size of that deal with Silver Wheaton and Vale. SLW really is kicking it up a notch lately with larger transactions. Impressive.

I’m not currently long SLW either, but I have a great deal of respect for Randy Smallwood as their CEO. Honestly I’ve been so entrenched in small companies and micro-cap transactions, that this deal surprised me in it’s size and scope.

Randy said in some prior interviews that he was going to go after Precious Metals streams from Base Metals, and they are doing that in spades…..

“ilver Wheaton’s gold production will increase by 70,000 toz gold per year, the total silver equivalent production will grow by more than 9%.”

“Silver Wheaton acquired further 25% share on the Salobo gold production. Together with the former two Salobo gold streams, Silver Wheaton is entitled to receive 75% of the gold produced at the Salobo mine.”

I am very long SLW and hope they can get their tax issue settled in our favor.

It appears to me, notwithstanding weakness in banking stocks, that the Euro is firming up.

Finally Europeans realize Brexit is not happening soon, and efforts are being made to hold the Eurozone itself together.
If the Euro strengthens, the dollar index will fall. This is positive for gold!

It seems that the economy of Spain is now recovering, except for some bank problems.

However Italy still has serious problems; with many banking problems stemming from crony loans, in anticipation of bail-outs/ins which may not happen.
