Why it is important to consider news when investing

October 7, 2015

We chatted with Laurent-Patrick Gally a.k.a LPG today and decided to bring him on the show. We first get into the probability of markets breaking either up or down. Then we move into the topic of news flow driving commodities. Finally we wrap it up with how all the immigration in Europe will impact its economies.

As you know LPG all major trading desks have live news feeds that effect their markets whats really important is the ability to understand how the news will effect your investment that’s KEY! So many especially in the precious metals sector have relied on flawed opinions that have read key data incorrectly suggesting X will take place and nothing is further from the truth as the reaction is the opposite and that’s when the guru’s pull out the manipulation spin and still do today.

    Hello Franky,

    Hope you are well.

I don’t know what you meant with your comment about Muslim/Home/Love, but let me put this straight:
    * I’ve been living in the Middle-East for almost 10 yrs now.
    * I’m currently sharing a home w. a Muslim. It’s one of the nicest and kindest person I’ve met in my life – and I’ve also known him for almost 10yrs.
    * Back in Europe, some of my close friends for many years also happen to be Muslims. They have degrees from some of the top universities in Europe (Think… Top 10), each of them speak several languages fluently, and each of them are businessmen/entrepreneurs (ie they create wealth and pay taxes in/for the country in which they reside). They have this “pedigree” while many “locals” in the countries in which they live 1) don’t have a top university degree, 2) can’t speak more than 1 language fluently, and 3) live from state subsidy or are civil servants…

So again, I am not sure what your point was, but this is mine. And as an aside, I do indeed love my friends – dearly. Be they Muslims, or not.

    Best,

    LPG

I know you’re not attacking me, but I didn’t see the point of your comment. That’s all.

            Franky,

Re: what you said about divorce, bringing woman etc…
If you are upset by this situation, you should blame the Belgium Gvt/the politicians… not the people (migrants) who take advantage of the situation.

            We were having a discussing w. Al/Cory off-mic on a similar matter.

So again, IMHO, it is more wise to “blame” the laws/politicians/governments… instead of blaming people who just benefit from the law.

            My 2cts.

LPG, I think the quality aspect in immigration policy is now firmly thrown out of the window. It has been for a long time, mostly because of the European Union policies. It is just a tool for the corporates to lower wages and tighten the labour market as if unemployment isn’t big enough in the EU and even in the UK! Mass immigration has always been a tool for this – and a tool to divide and rule.

The consequences will be disastrous in the longer run, culturally, notwithstanding the undeniable existence of some very high quality well qualified and hardworking immigrants (such as many Filipinos that I know here in the UK).

FOMC minutes released Thursday afternoon, lets remember the Sept 17th FOMC meeting was what started the rise off $1100 so a Dovish minutes release could be the fuel needed to close above $1147 and take on $1169…$1205….$1232

Here’s a fun composite chart of Small-Mid Gold stock winners over the last 200 days.
It is just interesting because it starts with the very end of 2014 as starting position.
(you can also right click on the time horizon button for 1 week – max time)

Companies featured in Canadian Ticker symbols:

Claude, Guyana Goldfields, Klondex, Kirkland Lake Gold, Novagold, Centerra Gold, Alacer Gold, Centamin Egypt, Detour Gold, and McEwen Mining

      Claude is the standout winner.

There were some good runs in a number of these Gold stocks though, even when many companies continued to trudge lower. There were others, but it illustrates the point that there are still some good growth stories going on despite the low metal prices.
