Agreed.
Watched it this morning. A good technical primer for anyone getting started in the metals market.
Why is trading halted in NSRPF today? Have KL or NEM made a takeover bid?
More likely Novo is going to have news out in a technical nature on one of their projects, or maybe an announcement about commencing production soon. It should be interesting to see what the update is nonetheless.
I’ve been on the fence with getting back in, and depending on the nature of the news, especially if it is around getting production going, then I may jump back in.
…and here it is…… drum roll please……. it’s the production news.
(NVO) (NSRPF) Novo Undertakes Transformative Acquisition to Fast-Track Planned Pilbara Conglomerate Gold Production
by @nasdaq on 4 Aug 2020
“Novo Resources Corp. is pleased to announce that it has today signed an arm’s length agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares of privately held Millennium Minerals Limited from IMC Resources Gold Holdings Pte Ltd, Heritas Capital Management Pty Ltd, and IMC Resources Ltd. Millennium’s assets are located approximately 10 km south of Novo’s 100% controlled Beatons Creek conglomerate gold project in the Nullagine region, Shire of East Pilbara, Western Australia and include the requisite processing infrastructure to accelerate Novo’s planned transition to a producing gold company.”
https://ceo.ca/@nasdaq/novo-undertakes-transformative-acquisition-to-fast-track
Pass out the fireworks. The show begins.
Good question Bonzo. Nothing on their website.
That’s because it’s still halted pending the news being released. With the metals ripping higher today, it would be a good day to release the news (once the exchange approves of it).
So there has been 200-250 investors hovering over in the Novo Resources room all day over at ceo.ca and all kinds of speculation about the news including a Chinese takeover.
Erik (The Hedgeless Horseman) has been cracking me up over there today with hilarious memes like this hurled back at the Novo pack of wolves.

Thanks Corey,
Agreed. These company updates are appreciated Cory. I didn’t even realize there was yet, ANOTHER, new Royalty company launched with Elemental.
There have been so many new ones lately like VOX Royalties, Nomad Royalty Corp, Trident Resources, as well as all the previously established ones (Franco Nevada, Royal Gold, Wheaton Precious Metals, Sandstorm Gold, Osisiko Gold Royalties, Maverix Metals, Metalla Royalty, EMX Royalty, Ely Gold, Abitibi Royalties, Golden Valley, Sailfish Royalty, Altius Minerals, Anglo Pacific, Globex, Coral Gold, etc…)
There are almost too many royalty companies now, and I’d like to see some cannibalization and consolidation in the space where some of these companies either acquire the smaller ones like Sailfish, Abitibi, Golden Valley, Coral Gold & Ely, or have some mergers of equals with Nomad & Maverix or VOX and Sailfish, or something like that.
Speaking of Sailfish they had news out today about looking for a partner on Gavilanes that Marlin Gold picked off from Santacruz Silver a few years back, but then this project got spun out to Sailfish Royalties when Marlin merged with Golden Reign to form Mako Mining (MKO). I’ve been wondering with Sailfish was going to option it out and retain a Net Smelter Royalty on it, and with Silver surging, the time has come…

Like you said Exc whomever Cory invites on the show turns to Gold….
Cory’s doing a good job of picking the winners and a good job of interviewing them for details.
Big volume on Eatmain, you still think it has arbitrage value Exc,
It may end up being Eatmain…. haha!
Eatmain=Eastmain
Hey Ex, Looking for your insight…
I am having a hard time trying to determine where my spare funds should land when it comes to the royalty plays. This would be intended for long term placement. I already have EMX, ELY, and Sailfish. I do have a small amount sitting in Metalla and would have no problem increasing that position.
I was combing through Sandstorm and a couple of others, but nothing is standing out to me at this time as a clear fireworks sale or wisest long term investment.
Care to offer any wisdom that might help me in picking some solid winners?
Hi Canuckski – I wouldn’t feel comfortable telling anyone where to place their money, and only share ideas of what I like or what I’m doing, and the rationale behind it. Everyone needs to do their own due diligence and come to their own conclusions when they hit buy or sell.
Having said that, I believe you’ll continue to do well in EMX Royalty, Ely Gold, and Sailfish, and yes Metalla is a very solid bet on the medium to longer term.
(MTA) Metalla is my largest royalty position, followed by (MMX) Maverix. I also own (FISH) Sailfish and (GZZ) Golden Valley. I’m planning to add (EMX) EMX Royalties and possibly (ELY) Ely Gold, (NSR) Nomad Royalty, or possibly (VOX) VOX Royalty corp [although it is the most risky of that lis].
As for the larger companies like (SAND) Sandstorm (WPM) Wheaton Precious Metal or (FNV) Franco Nevada, they all get to a point where it becomes more about the returns to investors via Dividends, than only looking at the share prices. Sandstorm is still incredibly well-fortified and it will continue to grow during the bull market as a safer bet. I’ve considered putting in some longer term money in it as well, but for now am liking the smaller to medium sized Royalty companies for more upside torque.
If you aren’t familiar with Maverix, I had posted this on the weekend show, but it’s a nice overview.

Thanks Ex. I understand, and do appreciate you sharing your thoughts on your envisioned next selection(s).
I’ve been blessed to have been doing well on the ones I’m in with a few having seen triple digit percent gains. My best royalty performers have been EMX (which actually surprised me to have gone up as high as it did) and ELY. Both of those are currently up close to 400% since I dipped into them.
Surprisingly, ELY has actually lost some gains since mid-July.
To open my kimono, my plan will likely be to bolster my Metalla holdings and then do a light dusting of the others for coverage.
Thanks.
Thanks for your thoughts and feedback Canuckski. Those are fantastic gains in EMX and ELY, (400% ) especially considering they were in royalty companies. We’ve heard from so many pundits that people want to be in individual miners for the big gains, but most of the royalty plays have outperformed a huge swath of the individual miners, and did so while limiting risk. What’s not to like right? 🙂
Great job and good luck bolstering Metalla and putting a light dusting across the others.
Ever Upward!
I am down to half my Ely from four royalty companies. I use them as a bank thinking I will store profits… until the next best thing comes along. I think I better start rebuilding my bank.
Chesapeake Mining is halted, they have 17.5 million in cash plus a huge resource, they may be in acquisition mode, it would be nice if they were doing a dance with Santacruz. DT
Noooo…. I don’t want Santacruz Silver getting picked off yet! 🙁
I believe Santacruz is still halted as they are working on the finance package for them to buy the Zimapan mine from Penoles in Mexico. They’ve been halted since the end of last week though, and I’m sad they are missing this surge higher in the metals prices, but hopefully they’ll come off halt today and get part of a session in.
As for Chesapeake it will be interesting to see what their news is. Thanks DT for point it out. There is a lot going on today in the mining news, and I posted a number of releases at the bottom of yesterday’s blog.
I was pretty impressed with Minera Alamos coming off halt to announce they picked up that Cerro De Oro Gold Project, Zacatecas, Mexico. MAI is such a well run company.
https://ceo.ca/@newsfile/minera-alamos-completes-definitive-agreements-to-acquire
(MAI) Minera Alamos up 13% on the day off the news and it seems to have garnered big support from investors. President of MAI, Doug Ramshaw, has been active over on ceo.ca today and had this to say.
@TheGalvanizer – “What i love is the bulk of the cash payments are staged well after Santana begins – so perfect use of deployable cash from operation number 1 :)”
@TheGalvanizer – “We feel like Cerro de Oro can be an El Castillo look a like – but with what we believe will be better starting grade/strip and resources. Brought to you by the guys that happened to build El Castillo :)”
Brixton taking off today. Yipee!
Yes indeed. It was quite a thrust higher today in Brixton. I finally trimmed the first 1/3 of of my Brixton position today, and left 2/3 on for the trek higher.
Gold is at $2668 CDN, Canada has no gold reserves just a monopoly currency, funny money everywhere and real estate values in Toronto continue to climb. What’s Next, a massive hang over that will last a decade or more. DT
Hi DT,
They have it all stored in the ground(Canada)
Looks like Golden Valley is executing their share repurchase. Shares should take off again soon.
Yes, I’ve watching Golden Valley keenly, now that they have done their reverse split, and they’re repurchasing shares, they are getting geared up for a potential dual-listing on the US big board. Looking forward to that, and I’m going to be adding to Golden Valley and all my other royalty companies as the PM sector gets more jubilant .
That is my plan too. Take some profits out of the high flyers and derisk and diversify into they royalties over time as the bull matures.
Chesapeake Mining has just done a PP with Eric Sprott taking $15 million of the $20 million. Four million shares at $5.00 a piece. LOL! https://web.tmxmoney.com/article.php?newsid=8469266000330894&qm_symbol=CKG
No mention of warrants! Great! DT
That’s good news DT. Congrats to you and all Chesapeake shareholders.
How can we buy Elemental stock in the US???? I don’t see a symbol for them here in the US.
Looks like you’ll have to buy it on the WSE. Interactive Brokers would allow you to do that easily.
Ignore the above. I thought you meant the Polish stock. I didn’t notice the company profiled in this segment!

Treasury releases First Mining’s Goldlund drill results
2020-08-04 12:58 ET – News Release
An anonymous director reports
TREASURY METALS ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL DRILLING BY FIRST MINING GOLD AT THE GOLDLUND GOLD PROJECT, IN ONTARIO, CANADA
Treasury Metals Inc. has released the latest results from the 2019/2020 drill program at the Goldlund gold project. Drilling by First Mining Gold Corp. focused on delineating mineralization in the eastern portion of the defined resource area at Goldlund (the “Main Zone”), with these results including the highest-grade interval encountered to date in the 2019-2020 program, Hole GL-20-033, which intersected 173.8 grams per tonne gold over one metre.
Thanks cfs
That is encouraging news for both Treasury Metals and First Mining shareholders. Now with the combined assets of both adjacent projects, Goliath & Goldlund, Treasury is going to be a beast, and will have an economic mine being built (likely by a larger company that takes them over or JVs the project with them). Looking forward to watching this story keep unfolding and I’m a happy Treasury Metals shareholder.
Here’s another interesting development in the Gold producers. I’ve been trading off and on with (SGI) Superior Gold. They are a producer operating in Australia, and they’ve done fairly well, but had the same issue with gold hedging blocking some of their upside, that Jaguar did last year into early this year. I had finished selling out my remaining position on July24th, but just bought it back today as I just noticed how far it has fallen the last 2 weeks because they are in a state of flux.
The CEO (which many investors disliked) has stepped down, there is a new interim CEO and they are looking to sell the company, JV with a Major Producer, or look for a more attractive financing package to give them some time to retool.
SGI is a distressed producer, and the market has given up on them, but it reminds me of where TMAC or Guyana Goldfields were right before getting snagged (just a lot smaller scale operations than those 2). I see Superior Gold as beat up here, and they made head even lower, but this is exactly the kind of disarray that leads to a takeover, so I’m back in and will average down if needed.
To be crystal clear, this is not a suggestion to buy SGI or even consider it, as it is extremely high risk here, but more to point out the warning signs that can show up in producers, and that often when a company gets dejected and tossed out like Superior Gold has been, that this is when the vultures descend or when an unique opportunity presents itself to reinvent or relaunch the company. I’m sure by year end there will be some big announcement with SGI, but here’s the press release they put out last week that just caught my eye today. When companies say they are trying to “maximize stakeholder value” it is a bell ringing that this company is about to get taken over in the next 6-12 months, give up partial ownership in their asset to have a larger company help out, or in a worst case scenario a dilutive capital raise is on the horizon. However, in the context of higher Gold prices and the reality that this PM bull run may have 1-3 more years to run, I believe in the medium to longer term, that it could end up being a value play, but one that needs time to get turned around. I’m prepared to average down in 2 more tranches to pursue this line of investing, but I’m already back in 25% lower than I sold my final tranche 2 weeks ago, so it’s a start.

Thanks Exc always appreciate your insights, lots of volume in Eastmain today, you think it still has arbitrage at these levels.
Well, some of it depends on the fate of Auryn’s share price movement prior to the transaction closing, and due to the 10:7 share consolidation of AUG, then ER will have a .165 of AUG share conversion over into the newly formed Fury Gold.
AUG.TO is trading at $3.38 currently so x .165 = $.5577 would be the ER.TO price if the deal happened today. ER is trading at $.2775 for a $.28 delta, and that put’s it only at 50% of it’s value. While it is normal for there to be a 5-10% arbitrage in case the deal doesn’t go through in an acquisition, it is not normal for there to be a 50% arbitrage, so I’ve been buying Eastmain today.
Exc I concur…thanks for sharing your views
Sure. I may get my rear-end handed to me on my initial tranche in both Auryn and Eastmain, but overall I like this roll-up and believe Fury and the 2 companies in Peru will be stronger going forward because of the new arrangement. If the shares get hammered for any reason, then I’m fully prepared to buy more to average down into a larger position. Hopefully with the PM prices surging that won’t be the case, but either way, I’m interested in being involved.
Been bussy scalping, no time to go to fridge….
Ex……..I listened to and read everything I could on the AUG/ER deal. Talked to my Sprott broker & the only other thing that they feel is AUG now richly valued. I want to buy ER at current 28 cents C$ & believe my risk is AUG stock takes a dive on a PM correction in the next couple of months………….do you have any other thoughts? Thanks…….
Hi Chris – I shared some thoughts up above about the Eastmain arbitrage opportunity and I’ve been on the bid today. I already picked up Auryn when it sold off on Friday morning when the news first broke, and it has already climbed much higher since then.
My perspective is that for what Auryn had, they were not “richly valued” if the Copper and Silver/Gold properties in Peru were being factored in, which is precisely why Auryn wants to spin them out. They are fairly valued here for their Canadian Gold assets, but keep in mind they are picking up Eau Claire from Eastmain which is a great project and ER’s problem was just 2 consecutive bad management teams. Once Eau Claire is combined with the Homestake Ridge and Committee Bay projects to form Fury Gold Mines, then this valuation still has room to run. They are also going to be doing exploration work while the transaction is closing, which could be another catalyst, as Gold, Silver, and Copper prices are running higher. So there are a lot of variables as work as to how richly valued AUG is at this point. I wanted to have the AUG shares to get the 2 Peruvian spin cos, but as mentioned Friday and Monday, the Eastmain shares look like more of a value here, and I bought today for this reason.
Now, to your point, if the Gold miners top out in the near future and the whole sector pulls back, then Auryn and Eastmain would both pull back as well and there may be better entry points.
Personally, I like to get an initial tranche in place if I like a story as a tracking position, because it commits me to getting involved and following it with money on the line. However, I’ll often add a 2nd or 3rd tranche later to get a solid cost basis. I don’t see any need on any stock (with a few rare exceptions at key turns in a market) to go “All In”. I’ve never understood why investors think they can only buy once and sell once. I’d rather average into a good position letting some time go by between each tranche, and then same thing on fading the exit in 2-4 sales on the way up. That’s my 2 cents… 🙂
Just read your above Excelsior & appreciate your comment……….thank you!
Sure thing Chris. Good luck to you whatever you decide.
I guess the takeaway is there is nothing wrong with starting with 1/4 or 1/3 of what you’d like to invest in any company, especially if you feel there is the potential of a correction looming. You can always average down in 2-3 more tranches, or if it looks like things are going to continue to do well you can average up at higher prices but with more conviction.
Yep, just put a starter position order in for 50K at C$.28……..will then look to add. Appreciate your sharing your thoughts. I have heard Ivan speak several times at the Sprott conferences. A VERY high energy person.
Wishing your investment to be very prosperous Chris.
Agreed about Ivan. Did you see this interview put out yesterday? It’s very good.

Yes, that’s the biggest risk to both Eastmain and Auryn — the AUG share price over the next few months. If it pulled back by 20%+ then I’d scoop up some more shares of both.

There has been so much newsflow in the $Gold and $Silver miners today with the metals ripping higher that I’ve felt like this all day long trying to take it all in.
An interesting thing.
Bob and Jordan Roy-Byrne figure its time for a correction.
Michael Oliver figures not the time to sell, standard charting doesnt apply, gold is on its way up
Egon figures it doesnt matter what happens, just buy.
I bought some phyzz gold today, just for fun, 2 people in the shop, no line ups and nobody entering as I left.
When the top happened 10 years ago? There were line ups out the door.
Just from that it doesnt look like a top to me.
Today…….is a whole new ball game…..
The correction is sure to come, but, according to the Gann Report, …expect a little more upside…..
I like Oliver’s call…….jmo
I think both Bob and Jordan missed the call back a few months ago…..
Do not get me wrong……I like both guy’s input….
There is just a whole lot more going on than anyone has experienced…..this time around

Joran Roy-Byrne – Palisade Radio – August 4, 2020 #AudioInterview
Agree on Michael Oliver.
Ex you going to buy in to Novo yet or give it some more time?
This production news is what I’ve been waiting on for over 2 years, but I was hoping they were going to unhalt it today as I had bids in place and was hoping some investors hadn’t seen the news yet. After leaving it halted all day long and letting it stay halted until tomorrow (all the Aussies will see it now too), my concern is that it is going to gap up too high out of the gates and so I want to see how it goes.
If it only goes up 10-15% I may buy in, but if it launches up 20-30% or higher, I’m going to wait for a better entry. Just last week I was talking with the Hedgeless Horseman and yanking his chain that I’ve done so well in the Silver stocks (that he things are overvalued) that I need to put the profits somewhere and may throw Novo a bone. All joking aside, I really was considering adding back a position the end of last week, and now I’m worried by hesitating I’m going to have to chase it higher (which I really dislike).

The cad is on fire as you say.. Has a long term date with 1.11 all time high against US dollar eventually. Down the road.
Holding through any weakness here rather than trying to play it is a perfectly good idea. We haven’t seen anything yet from our miners. However, IF one would like to trim/hedge, now is a good time to do so. The gold miners are at resistance on a modest new high that is not confirmed by the RSI. Plus, most items gapped up today which ups the odds of a pullback…
