I couldn’t see any valid reason in the article for shut down that made any sense to me.
There had been an outcry over the appointment of Kay Coles James, who is president of conservative thinktank The Heritage Foundation. Thousands of Google employees signed a petition calling for her removal, over what they described as “anti-trans, anti-LGBTQ and anti-immigrant” comments.
At the weekend, board member Prof Alessandro Acquisti resigned, tweeting: “While I’m devoted to research grappling with key ethical issues of fairness, rights and inclusion in AI, I don’t believe this is the right forum for me to engage in this important work.”
They spent more time attacking the conservative that was appointed than actually dealing with the moral and ethical questions behind using AI to compile machine learning on the citizens of our planet. Just business as usual….

I am sure that you are aware by now that Bob and I do not agree on many issues and this is definitely one of them. When you read The Old Testament, you realize that the Palestinians did have their own land. Unfortunately human nature has screwed that up. Joking aside. The problem is not easily soluble.
Islamic controlled surrounding countries preach hatred of Israel in their schools.
Israel is scared that it will be eradicated from the face of the earth.
Despite some early successful negotiations, the situation is now so entenched, I don’t think a peaceful negotiated settlement is any longer possible.
Of course, there were mostly nomadic populations historically thoughout the whole area that is now “Israeli” land. The entire Balfour declaration and boundary determination was substantially messed up by incompetent bureaucrats. Israel was not initially given defensible borders; from which all problems have developed.
I will not go into all the history, since I have covered it before.
The problem now is probably no longer soluble simply because the Arab HATRED is palpable in countries around Israel and Israeli fear is likewise clear.
It does not help that random rockets are lobbed into Israel from Gaza; it often provokes Israel retaliation, generally serving no purpose other than to keep the hatred and fear at a level of constant simmer.

I have to disagree CFS, I see the issue coming from the Balfuor declaration, Rothchilds planned and achieved their goals by manipulating the British government into giving land that was not theirs to give. This was very influential in creating the 2nd world war.

There will be many bankruptcies going into the Big Reset, which, I predict will occur after a major drop in markets worldwide. This will remove the reserve status of any one country’s currency. Instead after extended negotiations there will arise a complex world equivalent based on SDRs involving major trading countries and gold. The near future will not be pretty, but hopefully we will avoid significant war (because weapons are now too great). The Chinese are pragmatic and long-range thinking. Both China and Russia have major holdings in gold, which is why gold WILL be a part of the mix.

There’s always interesting comments in the political arena here at KER.
I have to give my 2 cents on two topics.
1) There is in fact a Middle East peace agreement between all countries in the ME. The details of the agreement will be announced after the results of the Israeli elections on the 9th of April.
Getting the cabal control out of Israel, Iran, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was key to making that happen. The ME countries needed assurance from Trump, Putin and Ping to unravel the Western European oligarch control.
( it’s pretty much a done deal )
2) Trump is bringing the gold standard back.
That’s why you see countries dumping treasury bonds. Dumping foreign currency holdings. Trump is managing the Triffin Dilemma masterfully.
The main reason to balance the trade deficit is to be able to bring the gold standard. That’s what the tariffs are all about. That’s why the trade negotiations with China are so important.
The gold standard is closer than most think. It’s all about the timing in the “biggest market in the world”. (without a long winded explanation)
The “timing” is in the here and now.

I must say that I totally agree with Rick Ackerman that a deflationary depression is in the cards. I have felt this way for many, many, years going back to the late 1960’s when The US started giving away it’s industry. In those days I listened to Paul Harvey talk about this subject on his syndicated radio show. He would mention how a popsicle stick manufacturer had started this trend by moving production overseas, his broadcasts just made sense. Now you have Mexican, Central and South American countries pouring over your borders, if the other unfunded liabilities aren’t enough ( medicare, social security, etc……) these illegal aliens are taking up US citizenship for free, and with all of the entitlements that come with that. If there is anything deprived people understand it is how to scam the system. That is the skill set they bring from poor uneducated backgrounds. That is not their fault being born in such an environment, but neither is it the responsibility of Americans to allow their laws to be trashed and exploited. Immigration problems will never be solved when these poor people are allowed to cross into any country for a better standard of living, they must stay in their own countries and work to change the system they grew up with.
