Many thanks, CFS. I really was not aware of that.
Maybe that is how we got ….Amazing GRACE, …in lieu of Amazing Billy
I suspect that it was not a question of sexual discrimination, but a factor of work and life in those times. Life was hard for the average people and women had more flexibility and desire to be involved in he early church. It was not until a few centuries later when governments got involved that men took over. The gospels were mostly written by men, because actually much of the population could neither write nor read more than a few words. Different times, indeed! Christianity was somewhat different and unique in being a bottom-up religion rather than top imposed down religion in society.
Galatians 3:28-29 King James Version (KJV)
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
there is neither male nor female:
No boys or girls?
How did that ever get popular?
Can’t take this statement literally.
you are the wrong trail……..
you are on the wrong trail………
Amen, Jerry
Interesting way to put it CFS
The gospels relate little of the religion by which Christ was raised. Clearly he was a Jew, because of the census causing his birth to be in Bethlehem. But of which sect of Judaism is another question entirely. Judging by his teachings, I would have to guess, not orthodox, but closer to being a Gnostic Jew. There is no proof of this, but the Nag Hammadi texts would tend to support that hypothesis.
He was a jew,……..and he came for the jews…….
Lucky thing for every human alive today……….He died, for Everyone’s sin
Amen,OOTB Jerry
Matthew 1 King James Version (KJV)
1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3 And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
4 And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
5 And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
6 And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
7 And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
8 And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
9 And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
10 And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
11 And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
12 And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
13 And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
14 And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15 And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.
What a Bible Scholar you are OOTB Jerry!
2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. 4For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
Romans 12:2
Just trying to do my reasonable service………and thank you for the platform….BIG OWL
And before you make comment on the Gnostic religion, Jerry, the modern day “Gnostic Religion” has little resemblance to the Gnostic religion around 0 Anno Domini.
Thanks, CFS
2 Timothy 2:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Year zero does not exist in the Anno Domini system usually used to number years in the Gregorian calendar and in its predecessor, the Julian calendar. In this system, the year 1 BC is followed by AD 1.
CFS, historians have found no evidence of any census taken by Caesar Augustus in the year of Jesus’ birth. Jesus was from Nazareth, but in order for him to be the expected Messiah he had to be from Bethlehem where David was born. So this census was made up to put the Nazarene in Bethlehem on the day he was born.
Today we celebrate the Centennial of Ted Williams, the greatest hitter since Ruth.
Please explain what the Centennial of Ted Williams is and how it is relevant to the topic of discussion.
Ted was born on Aug.30, 1918, so he just had his Centennial. I thought we should take time to celebrate a great hitter and pilot, whose wing man in Korea was John Glenn.
And if anyone has any evidence of a Roman census at the time of Jesus of Nazareth’s birth outside of the New Testament, I would like to see it. I would also like to see a legitimate birth certificate and college transcripts of Obama.
Regarding Obama, Bonzo, ain’t going to happen! Regarding Ted Wiilliams, thank you.
women are more concerned….

7Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
1 Peter3
5For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands: 6Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
1 Peter 3 :5
Turn from Evil
8Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
13And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

A little known, suppressed fact…..
For the first three centuries the majority of Christians leading religious services were female not male. That changed with the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church.
