Mr. Big Al Korelin, you don’t need to eat crow. You’re a bigwig! 🙂

But if you do, you can eat it anyway you like. Fried is not bad. 🙂

As I wrote in this blog almost 2 weeks ago, I heard that when Ivanka saw the pictures of the dead babies in Syria, she went to her father in a very emotional state and told him that he had to do something.
I believe Trump made an error in judgment and chose to act before knowing all the facts.
I also believe he was at least cautious enough to realize that he did not want to greatly antagonize the Russians by his (Trump’s) actions. (Hence his warning to the Russians of his intended strike)
I now believe Trump understand that he may have acted too quickly.
I hope he will mend bridges with the Russians. Clearly the Lavrov and Putin meetings with Tillerson last weekend will have provided feedback.

I completely agree with your comment, Professor!

      Eddie,

      You are delusional!

I’m glad to hear you both (Doc and Al) are still measured in a wait and see context. All that has been happening is chess game, and the Hegalian dialectic for the masses. They have to create the problem that the masses recognize, to give the solution that everyone wants. Trump in the sort term will take some hits from his base over this, but in the end, things will workout.

      I certainlly hope so, Chartster!

We have a lot riding on this guy.

Big Al, I remember very well when we were sold a bill of goods about Viet Nam, and sadly, I believed what the government told me. As a service member back then, I whole heartedly believed what we were doing in Viet Nam made sense. It wasn’t until years later, after seeing first hand the waste of lives and treasure fighting a war based on lies and led by politicians and not common sense, and again later, when the truth came out from McNamara that I began to realize my government lied to us. Now, that I am about your age Al, and I have studied some history, I should not have been surprised at being lied to. It is now harder than ever to know who is telling the truth, but like you, I approach what is going on in the world and with our government on the basis of solid principles. When events transpire, I try to measure what is going on against sound principles, such as we can’t spend our way to prosperity, we can’t borrow endlessly and expect prosperity, and we can’t trust everything we are told. The best way to encourage others around the world to adopt liberty, morality and good government is for us to be a good example, something we have not done very well at over the recent decades. Ultimately, we the people must stand up for what is right, or the fear the founders had will be realized…”a republic, if you can keep it.”

Great comment Pardu, you are a great American and a great person!

    Apr 19, 2017 19:18 PM

The govt isn’t going to be happy with this. You guys need to be careful…..:).

“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out… without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, intolerable.”

    H.L. Mencken

      Apr 19, 2017 19:50 PM

Great quote. Another one from Mencken: “The government I live under has been my enemy all my active life. When it has not been engaged in silencing me it has been engaged in robbing me. So far as I can recall I have never had any contact with it that was not an outrage on my dignity and an attack on my security.”

Where is the truth? Do we suffer from lack of news or information overload? I think it is probably a bit of both. Orwell and Huxley were both right, but in different ways.

Lack of truth is definitely in the equation as is information overload!

    The truth is out there.
We live at a wonderful time when no truth can ever be kept hidden for long.
With the internet, cell phones, we just have to be skeptical of politicians and reporters until there are no pieces of the big picture that don’t fit together. I do worry a little bit, however, that the President relies so heavily on advice from Ryan, Ivanka and Jared Kushner; none of whom I would personally totally trust.

I do need to read more about Kustner. Thanks for you continued input Professor.

Too many of the boomer generation became the very thing that we tried to avoid, greedy, self absorbed, self interested squares. We thought we were better than our parents but in the end we took the very aspects of their life that we abhorred and adopted and magnified them. Most of us still don’t realize the betrayal we have lived. DT

      Very interesting point, Mr. Tracy.

    Sorry to change subjects again.

But how many of you boys remember KAL 007?

What would you say if I told you it was not blown apart in the air but ditched in the ocean and to this day many of its passengers are alive in the former Soviet Union?

    It sounds implausible but…

It is estimated that over 1 million people have died in the Iraq war between 2003 and 2010. This is disgusting. I think there should be a law that if anyone is caught purposefully lying about war crimes then they should themselves be charged with a war crime.

        Apr 20, 2017 20:42 AM

Exactly. With domestic murder, or any other felony, if you’re caught “aiding and abetting” either the action or the perpetrator, including withholding information hiding them or helping them escape, you go down as an accessory to the crime AND for obstruction of justice.

        Apr 20, 2017 20:27 AM

Absolutely. The media is a big part of this whole picture. Emphasis should be placed on holding the editors and people at the top responsible for deceptive news coming out of their organizations.

John Pilger, on of the great journalists in the world, once interviewed the Nazi propagandist Leni Riefenstahl:

“Propaganda always wins,” said Leni Riefenstahl, “if you allow it.”

In the 1970s, I met Leni Riefenstahl and asked her about her epic films that glorified the Nazis. Using revolutionary camera and lighting techniques, she produced a documentary form that mesmerised Germans; her Triumph of the Will cast Hitler’s spell.

She told me that the “messages” of her films were dependent not on “orders from above”, but on the “submissive void” of the German public. Did that include the liberal, educated bourgeoisie? “Everyone,” she said.
~John Pilger, “The new propaganda is liberal. The new slavery is digital”

Thanks Al. I really appreciate what you do….

Here is another one….every American should watch this. Why don’t people go to jail for this? It doesn’t matter if they are heads of state or not. As far as I am concerned, they are guilty of murder. I have no doubt the same cycle of lies is continuing with Syria yet nothing ever happens and we are doomed to be at war again and again and again.

Unfortunately, the American presidency is a most powerful position. Probably too powerful for one man to hold. But that is the way it is.
The American constitution, to this day, however, still remains the finest document establishing government.
Over the years, alas, the Government has evolved to reduce the checks and balances.

I would like to see modifications towards age limitations, term limits and spending/balanced budget limitations.
Such changes may come via a Convention of the States, however, whether that will happen before essentially a debt default occurs is the real question.
Some in this forum call for a debt Jubilee without the slightest realization of its full effects. Meanwhile it seems to me neither White House nor Congress chooses to worry much about the National Debt; each hoping that somehow we will muddle through long enough so that it will be the next President’s or the Congress’ problem.

It seems to me the National Debt Problem could be an excellent topic all in itself for a weekend show.
Rick Ackerman appears to me to believe we will have a deflationary problem as the debt is controlled. (Perhaps, I am mistaken and putting words erroneously into his mouth.)
I believe that there will be little or no attempt to control; merely a printing or more and more money until the system collapses. Such behavior would seem to be highly inflationary as opposed to deflationary. It is and has been the subject of many books for many years.

      Apr 20, 2017 20:34 AM

We have just scheduled a recording for that very subject tomorrow morning and it will be on the Weekend Radio Show.

Please weigh in with your comments on this posting. Thanks for the idea Professor.

    Doc/Al:
You both have stated “no one knows what happened”. Logically, that doesn’t fit. We, those that are not connected, don’t know. There are those with the “in” crowd that do know. Hopefully we don’t have to wait 20 years for someone to write a book…….As far as trying to prove one’s point today, either pro or con, all we can do is trust our judgment that the piece we’re reading is truthful. That’s pretty thin ice when you think about it in today’s world lies, deceit, and false narratives. Reminds me of Bob’s book: “Nobody knows anything”.
